Hi there. This is my first pregnancy. Myself and DP don't know what we are having yet (hoping it's a baby Grin ) and have this list so far:

Reuben
Seth
Benjamin
Cohen
Amos
Theo
Etienne
Remy

Thea
Lydia
Beatrix
Georgia
Alice
Posy
Romilly
Zoë

Based on this list, are there any more you can suggest? Do you like or have any particularly strong feelings (negative or positive) about any of these names. Surname is W a t s o n.

Not fond of many of your boys' names, sorry. Benjamin is nice and Theo is fine. Etienne sweet but it's a big name to grow into. Actively dislike Seth and Amos and Cohen.

Girls' names much nicer imho - especially love Posy and Alice and I like Lydia. Dislike Romilly and Zoe.

For girls, I like Beatrix, Theodora (Thea) and Posy!

Reuben- LOVE
Seth- sounds snakey Hmm
Benjamin- classic, but very popular
Cohen- meh
Amos- meh
Theo- love
Etienne- my Dsis/inlaw's fiance was called Etienne, I like it. (as an aside Aldi have a beer called St Etinnes).
Remy- not sure

Thea- really like Theodora with Thea for nn
Lydia- has been ruined by TOWIE for me
Beatrix- this is beautiful, classic and I've never met one
Georgia- lovely but too popular
Alice- quite standard imo
Posy- maybe too babyish?
Romilly- really like this
Zoe- too popular.

My favourites are Reuben, Theo, Thea and Beatrix.

Reuben - love it, but don't think it goes with Watson (too many n sounds)
Seth - love it
Benjamin - like it, but fairly popular round my way
Cohen - it's a surname, so not keen
Amos - sounds like a gardner's name, not sure
Theo - love it, but only if you're religious
Etienne - nice for a French boy, not if you have no French connections
Remy - like the cognac? not keen

Thea - love it, if you're religious
Lydia - not keen (tattooed lady!)
Beatrix - like it, but a bit Harry Potter now
Georgia - love it
Alice - like it
Posy -love it
Romilly - like it
Zoë - love it

Cohen can be controversial, have a search of mn for Cohen threads. But like your reference, maybe a good middle?

Etienne my favourite, conjures up memories of gorgeous french boys on hols.

Lydia don't like
Beatrix beautiful and classy
Georgia not as pretty
Alice love, timeless
Posy love, reminds me of the book ballet shoes
Romilly harsh sounding
Zoë doesn't match your other names style and a more common name

I like it that some of your names you have a story about, if it was me I would pick one of those. Its nice to have a name with a past rather than a name my parents liked.

Thanks Leo. Oddly, there are not many that jump out at me from your list - I think you might have slightly more 'expensive' tastes than me? Grin From your lists I like:

James, Heath and Rebecca.

I think 3 syllable first names go best with Watson (or first name = 2 syllable followed by one syllable middle name). Even a four syllable first name followed by one syllable middle name..?
For a boy, how about these names?

Eugene James Watson
Rupert Charles Watson
Edgar (just seems to go well with Watson, maybe with Michael or George as a surname) so Edgar Michael Watson or Edgar George Watson
Frederick James Watson? (Freddie for short...just love that name, masculine but friendly!)
Henry James Watson
Leopold (Leo) James Watson (don't know why I love Leopold)
Heath is akso a great middle name
Geraint James Watson (always liked Geraint since I heard it for the first and last time on ITV news...Geraint Vincent :))

For girls:
Madeleine Faith Watson
Francesca Rose Watson
Alexandra Neve Watson
Eleanor or Helena Rose Watson

Oh and Remy because nerd alert my brother and I used to watch this little film called ''Nobody's Boy'' about an orphaned child named Remy who roamed the streets of France with an opera singer and a monkey and some talking dogs (don't ask). Saddest child's movie ever and based on a novel called 'Sans Famille'.

Thanks for the comments. Our boys names do tend to verge toward the Hebrew whilst our girls names have a strong Greek theme. This is not deliberate.

We have no Jewish or French heritage:

Cohen because we both love Leonard Cohen
Etienne because when I was a teenager and quite ill I made friends with a little boy in hospital named such, who had leukaemia and was such a beautiful soul :)

DP fave - Benjamin
My fave - Seth

DP fave - Changes daily between Alice, Lydia and Thea
My fave - Romilly, Posy or Beatrix

Just to show the differences. However, those eight names are names we have both declared to love (the original exhausting list had 33 names on it.)
Bitterly Fondly remembering Sunday afternoon nearly throwing baby naming book at him as he discovered that ''we can't have Mortimer as it means death''. Because Mortimer was always in the running Hmm

You have a very similar list to us for ds. Would have loved to have used seth benjamin and etienne but already taken by family. So we had a jude instead. :)

Nice lists! My favourites of your boys' names are Reuben and Theo. I would presume an Etienne had French heritage and a Cohen Jewish heritage, if that's relevant.

I like all your girls' names. I especially like Romilly with your surname.
