We've picked Georgia. At first I felt it was a strong but feminine name but now I'm worried its too masculine.

What does the name suggest to you?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wow! I'd expect that sort of comment from Katie Hopkins. I'm thrilled so many people like it. Thanks

Not like that here and I can assure you I don't own any sportwear or smoke Grin
Name thread never fail to disappoint do they- how people can be so rude about the choice of a name that people have put a lot of time and energy into is quite sad.
That said I love my daughter's name and I'm glad I called her Georgia regardless of what some tactless people may think of it :)

Snoot · 16/09/2013 12:59

In the South East it's the sort of name you hear being hollered in the street, possibly followed by swearing or a threat to clip the child's ear, by a sportswear-wearing, pasty, smoking woman. That sort of common.

TallulahBetty · 16/09/2013 11:52

Love it. Was on our shortlist and would be again if we have another Smile

squoosh · 16/09/2013 10:32

Love Georgia, dislike Georgina.

vix206 · 16/09/2013 06:26

It's on my list too. I'm in the east midlands and know lots of children. Never met a single Georgia!

peggyblackett · 16/09/2013 06:26

I much prefer Georgina.

SmallTorch · 16/09/2013 06:22

I like it. :)
I really like the nn Georgie too.

williaminajetfighter · 16/09/2013 06:15

Very nice. Unf my awful sexist grandfather was named George so didn't like the associations otherwise would have considered. Pretty, strong and like the nn Georgie.

Wishfulmakeupping · 16/09/2013 06:05

I'm intrigued as to where people who say name is common live? It's not common in East Midlands that's for sure. I'm assuming they mean 'common' as in popular?

DessieLou · 16/09/2013 03:04

It's lovely! I know a teenage Georgia but none others. Definitely not a common name.

Snoot · 16/09/2013 00:42

Common! Soz Grin

MummyBeerest · 16/09/2013 00:40

Love it. Was a contender for DD.

ModeratelyObvious · 16/09/2013 00:38

It's a nice nane, OP.

ToffeeCaramel · 16/09/2013 00:35

I like it as long as it's not spelt Jorja

Fairyloo · 15/09/2013 22:28

Very popular

Wishfulmakeupping · 15/09/2013 22:25

Think you're right little there isn't many around my Hv said she's not had a Georgia in many years

Littledidsheknow · 15/09/2013 19:38

I have a Georgia. I think it's a lovely name and don't regret that choice. The registrar remarked on it, and said she'd tell her pregnant daughter to think about it! It is strong, but traditional and pretty. Still not too common... Yet!

DontmindifIdo · 15/09/2013 19:29

It's a nice name when said with a naice accent, but with most regional accents, sounds a bit common.

IMO, Georgina sounds classy no matter who says it.

However, it's your DD, if you like the name Georgia, go for it! And stop telling people about your name choices. They will have opinions. Whatever name you pick, you're sure that some Aunt or Cousin or collegue will have known someone with that name at some point who was a right bitch - you will not be able to find one that comes with no 'baggage'. Announce when the decision is made. Not before.

Iamgoodbutnotanangel · 15/09/2013 19:25

Both Georgia and Georgina were on my list until little Prince George was born and those names were predicted to surge in popularity. I'm still swaying towards Georgina though!

Working- class seriously?!

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 15/09/2013 18:15

I like it ok, but I would say it's very much a working-class name now, which I think is what valiumredhead was trying to say. Of course this may not be a factor you want to consider.

MairzyDoats · 15/09/2013 17:44

I think it's a lovely name, but not like Charlotte or Rebecca - more like Olivia or Lauren. Both of which I think are strong and feminine.

SelectAUserName · 15/09/2013 17:43

I like it. Pretty, feminine but not too fluffy-puppy.
