A sibling for Byron?

It took us a ridiculous amount of time to agree on Byron's name. DH has....eclectic taste name wise. So now number 2 is cooking and I am flummoxed.
So far we have:
Atticus (Byron was very nearly called this but I've gone off it a bit)
Caspian - we both like but don't love this.
Tiberius - DH favourite.
Aegeaus - Dh's other suggestion.

Girl wise we have only 1 name we can agree on:
Ariadne.

And that's it, we're at a veto impasse.
Help please?

Sounds like you have similar ideas about names as my DH and he was keen on Mungo and Isambard or Isidore for a boy. He liked Hera or Hero for a girl.

As to the sons of Jacob - "Reuben was the eldest of the children of Israel with Simeon and Levi the next in line, Naphtali and Isaachar with Asher and Dan, Zebulun and Gad took the total to nine, (Jacob, Jacob and sons) Benjamin and Judah which leaves only one, (Jacob, Jacob and sons), Joseph Jacob's favourite son..."

Isn't it strange how Benjamin and Joseph would be seen as very conventional, Reuben probably also these days, yet Zebulun and Naphtali would be seen as very "out there"?

Byron's daughters were Ada and Allegra both of which are great names.

I love Ariadne, what about Ariana and Elodie

I know a little Io (pronounced eye-oh) which is sweet.

For boys: Gregor, Algernon, Barnabus. If your husband is into Russian history how about Sacha, Ivan, Nicholas (Nico), Leo or Andre?

What about going through the brothers from Joseph and the technicolour dreamcoat? I can only remember Asher, Reuben and Simeon but there might be some good ones in there

Minerva is more usually known as the goddess of wisdom and the arts, actually. Most of the Greco-Roman gods and goddesses were pretty warlike. Minerva's Greek equivalent is Athena.

Aegeaus is something I don't like, mainly because I have no idea how to pronounce it. That sort of thing creates a barrier on meeting someone which children generally don't need.

I think Maude would go well with Byron. I love Valentina, but don't know if it is a bit long for you. I also like Gisele.

For boys, what about Magnus or perhaps Leo or Dmitri for your dh.

I was thinking about this thread last night, and that George now seems a really dull choice for the royal baby. Do you think they had a conversation that went "I love Alexander but it's a bit 'out there'" ? Grin And so depressing to think that a girl would likely have been Victoria or Catherine.

I have a friend who has chosen four 'individual' names for her dch, and it works well - I don't think you need a name that 'goes with' Byron, as in a Shelley-type name. Byron and Dahlia would be fab.

You say you like Caspian (me too) but I suggest it's not for you because the -on and -an endings aren't good together.

I love Artemis for a girl. Also Tansy or Pansy.
