Talk to me about Rose

what do you think of Rose as a first name?

I know it is much maligned on here as a middle name but I think, for a first name, it is the perfect mix of classic, traditional and trendy old lady which won't date a child quite like all of the other granny chic names....

Thanks

What middle name are you considering for Rose OP? I think it needs something longer such as Rose Alexandra or Rose Isobel maybe?

TombOfMummyBeerest · 01/10/2013 21:53

I love it. On the list if I have a DD2

birdofthenorth · 01/10/2013 21:36

Love Rose for all the reasons you state OP. Also not a Rosie fan, which might be inevitable. Rosemary can but Romy rather than Rosie which I like -though doesn't have the same classic simplicity

Kiwiinkits · 01/10/2013 03:19

Lovely name. Smile

Mummyoftheyear · 01/10/2013 00:37

Love it
Love Rosie even more

TidyDancer · 30/09/2013 23:43

Beautiful beautiful name. It's a family name so does feature in DD's name already, but we would use it for a potential future DD.

Mumblyboo · 30/09/2013 23:23

Rose is such a beautiful name but agree with others Rosie is really not....

MortifiedAdams · 30/09/2013 21:55

I know a baby Rose and love both her and her name. It is rare, as a complete first name, rpund my way, though is very very common as a middle name or in -Rose names.

Its like Jane, imo, beautiful, classic and underrated as a FN, and used too often as an easy MN.

looki · 30/09/2013 21:53

I also like Rosé but dislike Rosie more than I can express!

JeanPaget · 30/09/2013 16:05

I love Rose. Not keen on Rosie though.

elcranko · 30/09/2013 16:04

I LOVE Rose Smile

jaynebear · 30/09/2013 11:48

I LOVE Rosalie, which can be shortened to rose.

Minty82 · 11/09/2013 16:08

I love it - would be tempted to use it if DC2 turns out to be a girl, but DD1's name is that other ubiquitous middle name (yes, the one beginning with G!) so don't think we can use both, sadly!

cantthinkofagoodone · 11/09/2013 16:04

So over it as a middle name but love it as a first name. Not a Rosie fan and people will try that one on when she's little.

Also a big Rosa fan as suggested by a PP.

plum100 · 11/09/2013 16:02

GracieGirl · 11/09/2013 15:57

HitTheNorth · 11/09/2013 15:52

Love it, also love Rosemary

sparklekitty · 11/09/2013 15:48

Love it, it's our name if number 2 turns out to be a girl

liquidstate · 11/09/2013 15:42

You can't use it. I have already bagsied it, in case I ever have a girl. Sorry.

Rose is ok, Rosa is very nice, to me (don't know why).

poocatcherchampion · 10/09/2013 17:24

blondieblondieblondie · 10/09/2013 16:56

WillSingForCake · 10/09/2013 15:20

I'm the opposite! Love Rosie, not so keen on Rose.
