Melody - it'll just get shortened to Mel won't it?

Or is there a way around that? We love Melody but I'm less keen on Mel.

I know a Melody at work who just gets calledMelodie. Don't know what her friends call her though.

I know a twin, she's Melanie and her twin is Melody, both get called Mel.
