I think Esme Florence sounds lovely ❤ a great choice. Hope all goes well..

Tiredemma · 07/09/2013 12:59

Thanks all- had another deliberation last night (obviously have to listen to demands of DS1 (13) and DS2 (10)

Decided on Esme (pronounced Esmee) Florence.

Had some twinges today so may be here over the weekend....

They are all very 'now'. Esme is probably the best as long as it's pronounced Esmee not the dreadful Esmay.

pencilsharpener · 07/09/2013 10:40

I vote for Phoebe, followed by Matilda (because I love the nn Tilly)

Personally I wouldn't go for Amelia because there are so many Amelia /Amelie / Emily / Millies around - and they are all likely to be shortened to Millie at some point.

Good Luck for Monday and hopefully when you meet your DD you will be able to see which name suits her best.

MichaelBubleBath · 07/09/2013 00:51

Matilda Phoebe

confusedofengland · 06/09/2013 20:40

Just to say, I think they are all lovely names & we wanted Phoebe for a potential girl, until I met DS1's pre-school classmates, one of whom was called Phoebe, pronounced Phaybay (think strong Essex accent).

ringaringarosy · 06/09/2013 19:37

know its no help but they are all lovely names!

Ihatepeas · 06/09/2013 19:35

What a gorgeous list!
Florence- love love love hoping to use for future dd
Phoebe- great name, not sure on nicknames
Matilda- love but very popular here (sw London) dd has 3 in her music class of 12 children!!
Amelia- nice name. Most popular name in uk at the moment I think but popular for a reason.. Because its beautiful.

Esme- like but I know two Esmes with different pronunciations ES-MEE and ES-MAY. May not bother you but you may be forever correcting people..

ouryve · 06/09/2013 19:05

Why don't you meet your daughter first? Then the decision will be far easier.

mummaemma · 06/09/2013 19:04

my least favourite is amelia

mummaemma · 06/09/2013 19:03

mrsbaboo right. we called our son charlie but after 24 hours we changed it to harry as it didnt suit him

mummaemma · 06/09/2013 19:02

i vote for Esme, my daughters best friends name

exoticfruits · 06/09/2013 18:52

I like them all except Esme.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/09/2013 18:37

Florence or Esme.

1: Esme
2: Florence
3: Amelia
4: Matilda
5: Phoebe

noodlebum · 06/09/2013 10:42

Phoebe!

mrsbabookaloo · 05/09/2013 21:54

Don't decide until she's born - you have another couple of weeks. Just have a look at her and see which one you think suits. I think once you meet her it might suddenly be much easier to decide.

mysteryfairy · 05/09/2013 21:52

Stats for England 2012 here
Amelia 1st 6648
Phoebe 28th 1736
Florence 33rd 1480
Matilda 45th 1253
Esme 65th 888

They're all pretty names, hence why they are so popular I guess, and I think any of them is a lovely choice. Out of them all I would be least likely to choose Amelia due to it being by far the most popular.

My personal preference would be Matilda Florence, but I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

sleepingbeautiful · 05/09/2013 20:51
  1. Matilda
  2. Florence

Strong names with great girlie nns.

Don't like Phoebe. Feeble Phoebe. Plus does not sound good in Northern accents imo.

Amelia is lovely but currently the most popular name I think. I know of 2 plus an Amelie born this year in just a small number of baby producing acquaintances.

Esme will date to now due to Twilight.

mathanxiety · 05/09/2013 20:32

Matilda.

EnjoyEverySandwich · 05/09/2013 19:43

Matilda, very regal name. Hate Tilly though, so that would put me off a bit.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 05/09/2013 19:38

Amelia Belle (dog or no dog it's a pretty name)

Phoebe Amelia

Tiredemma · 05/09/2013 17:15

Argh! Was hoping there would be a clear favourite. We have decided to pull a name out of a hat on Monday morning! Will update with outcome!

Lutrine · 05/09/2013 16:53

I like them all! Matilda is my favourite though.

NadiaWadia · 05/09/2013 16:52

1 Amelia
2 Matilda
3 Esme
4 Phoebe
5 Florence

CruCru · 05/09/2013 16:11

Sorry, hope I don't sound too negative - they are all lovely names, just I tend to think of the disadvantages first.

Hope all goes well.
