Harriet or Charlotte

I'm booked in for a c-section tomorrow morning and I am really struggling to decide on a name for DD2.

I am leaning towards Harriet but DH much prefers Charlotte.

Any thoughts?

Congratulations Charlotte bounces along perfectly with a two part Chinese middle name, it's lovely.

I too am jealous of new born cuddles, DD1 will be 16 before so very long.

Good choice! Congratulations!

Wishfulmakeupping · 29/08/2013 21:53

Congratulations

Before I was born my parents had chosen one of those names for me (not going to say which!) but when I was born they didn't think I suited it... so they called me the other name you mentioned!

Lovely news - many congratulations. Great name Grin !!!

jinglebellmel · 29/08/2013 21:01

No help at all but I love them both, and really like Hatty and Lottie. I guess in the long form of the name Charlotte slightly has the edge for me but they are both great! Good luck with the c section x

Congratulations! Great name choice.

Mrsindecision · 29/08/2013 19:50

Congratulations - what a lovely name! Enjoy your lovely newborn! (V jealous) Grin

hippoherostandinghere · 29/08/2013 19:43

Aw congratulations you picked the right name! By Dd is Charlotte, also born by elective section. Everybody loves her name and we don't know a single other Charlotte here. It is certainly not boring or done to the death.

Enjoy your new baby girl Grin

Congratulations!

And brilliant name. I've lived with it for 30+ years and thank my lucky stars my parents had such good taste Wink

Thanks everyone for your input, our little girl, Charlotte Yuen Yie Surname was born at 12.29 today and she is gorgeous (biased mother!).

I'm currently enjoying some lovely newborn cuddles and she seems to suit her name (DH is ethnically Chinese hence the Yuen Yie middle name before that causes a stir!)

Or decide name and wait to see the baby and then decide neither name is a go-er! Shock Back to the drawing board!

Mrsindecision · 29/08/2013 14:36

I prefer Charlotte, but think both names are really lovely. I personally wouldn't worry about the popularity. My daughter has an uncommon name and there are 2 in her class! Just go for the one that feels right when you meet her. Good luck!

HahaHarrie · 29/08/2013 14:29

Harriet, Hattie is so old hat (see what I did there?..ahem). Now Harrie on the otherhand.......

Actually I know a lot of little Charlottes (just rattled through ten under 5 in my head), not as many Harriets (4), but it's still popular. My age not so many, and to be honest I don't really like my name (sorry). This might not bother you, but one of my children (accidently!) has a very popular name. She and I both hate it being so prolific. Especially as she is alway known as Name + Surname (as there is more than one with the same surname initial). Or if people say to her face in a bored tone - 'oh another one'. Sad

I wish I was called Josephine (only if pronounced in an French accent) or Kate.

Good luck with the birth and naming your daughter. Flowers

noodlebum · 29/08/2013 11:33

I like both! Best just see which she suits when she arrives :-) Good luck!

AndWhenYouGetThere · 29/08/2013 08:04

Harriet. Much less likely to need her surname initial - Charlotte R - in school.

There are 4 charlottes in ds, nursery!
Harriet is lovely

Supertrooper88 · 29/08/2013 07:40

Charlotte. It was rather popular about 15 years ago but not too many babies are given the name now so it won't be loads of them in her generation.

Charlotte is a really pretty name imo.

MildredH · 29/08/2013 07:33

Epically unhelpful but I really love both! Both are on my list for our 27 week pink bean.

I think poss Harriet gets the edge for being less well used..

Good luck today! X
