Clara or Cordelia

I like them both. I think for Cordelia we'd probably go with Cora as a nn. I imagine Clara might be a bit more popular at the moment but how much? Do you know children by either name? Smile

I don't know of either, but we did consider Cordelia for DD2, would have been Cordy for short.

We went with Luisa, a family name.

I know a Clara (3 years old) and her name is pronounced Clair-a. I think it might be a Northern thing??? Just so you know there is danger of mispronunciation in case that would bother you!

I've not come across any Cordelias of any age.

JamieandtheMagicTorch · 28/08/2013 17:53

Clara is reasonably popular but I think it might have peaked

I know of one Cordelia

Personally (and this is just my "thing") I think Cordelia sounds rather posh

Dorasmummy, I like Dora too - are you really Dora's mummy? Smile

I know two little Cordelias but no Claras.

Clara was top of the list for DC2 until we found out he's a boy Grin

They are both lovely - I'm not a fan of Cora and would probably give Cordelia the nn Deedee (or just not use a nickname at all)

Dalek, do you teach a lot of Claras? It wasn't even on the top 100 baby names the other week.

Cordelia is on my list - I love it!

BlueStarsAtNight · 28/08/2013 07:16

I dint know any of either name, but would imagine Clara to be more popular. I prefer Clara by a mile though.

DalekInAFestiveJumper · 28/08/2013 06:56

They're both lovely!

Yeah, I am no help.

I teach more Claras than Cordelias.

Clara

DottyboutDots · 28/08/2013 06:34

Clara does seem to be more popular now, we know 3 after never really hearing it before.

DottyboutDots · 28/08/2013 06:33

How funny. My next door neighbour went with Clara rather than Cora and doesn't regret it. They couldn't decide between the two for the last three months and it became a standing joke. Her DH preferred Cordelia but she put her foot down after the birth. Both lovely names.
