What do people think of Felicity? And if I like it, which I do, what else might I like? Thank you! Smile

I concur with wouldntadviseitsir.

It's my name too and I've nc'd for this.

Had the same experiences as a child. When I started school no one could say my name as it was too much of a mouthful for small children. Later on kids used to say my name in a fake 'toff' accent as I walked past as apparently I was posh (I'm not)

Oh and you can't choose nn, I've been called all of them. They seem to change organically as you get older.

And yes people do try to spell it with a 'ph' and an s in the middle Hmm

Also I've had to learn to respond to various versions of 'Frizzity' over the years as many cant be arsed to pronounce it.

That said I've made my peace with it over the years and don't mind it so much now so maybe your dd will begin to forgive you in about 35 years Grin

I like it. I had a friend at school called Felicity, shortened to Felix.

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 03/09/2013 20:15

I love Felicity. Like others have said, kinda classy without being too common and great meaning. Where I live (East Midlands) it was perceived as quite a bohemian name when I was growing up - don't know if that's still the case. I would shorten to Lissie or Fliss or Flissie rather than Flick (so ugly! I don't think even Holly Valence pulled it off). And I love Felicia. A lifetime of saying 'No, not Feleesha, Fel-liss-ee-a' has put me off using that though.

EnjoyEverySandwich · 03/09/2013 15:44

Don't like it, very fussy-sounding. Also reminds me of a smug botoxed actress.

FloraPost · 02/09/2013 23:28

Vile - it's my name too. What Icouldntadviseitsir said.

valiumredhead · 02/09/2013 15:16

Lovely !

Minty82 · 02/09/2013 14:59

WRT nicknames - I know two adult Felicitys, one known as Fizz and one always just Felicity as far as I know. Neither gets Flick, so it's not inevitable! Lissie's pretty remaincalm - though does it get confused for Lizzie?

Wishfulmakeupping · 01/09/2013 14:25

I really like and the nn too.
Other suggestions
Harriet
Abigail
Georgia
Camilla

CreatureRetorts · 01/09/2013 14:24

Felicia is nice - same sounds as Felicity (not Fer-lee-shaa as they say in America).

cupcakeicing · 01/09/2013 14:22

Really love your choice.

buttercrumble · 01/09/2013 14:20

Pretty Smile

ch1134 · 01/09/2013 14:18

I don't like the sound at all. It sound awkward. Although the meaning is nice.

MyThumbsHaveGoneWeird · 31/08/2013 23:56

Love it. Pretty sounding, nice meaning, not too ubiquitous but still a proper name that people have heard of. DH vetoed because we know one. She likes her name, and tbh nicknames can be whatever you like anyway.

Others on my list:
Flora
Eleanor
Imogen
Bethan
Iris
Helena
Carys
Arianwen

Ace name.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 30/08/2013 20:16

Had Felicity on my list for DD, ended up with Verity.

I also like other 'virtue' names like Constance etc

littlemog · 30/08/2013 20:13

How about Felice?

notadoctor · 29/08/2013 13:14

Thanks for your replies! Some good suggestions and good to get the perspective of a real life Felicity too!

Will always think of the character in neighbours, like the name and think flick is a cute nn, cant imagine it being shortened to anything else really
What about freya?

StrangeGlue · 28/08/2013 20:20

Lovely!

How about Claudia?

extracrunchy · 28/08/2013 20:20

Like it a lot!

remaincalm · 28/08/2013 20:18

I have a Felicity, her nn is Lissie, never Flick.
Other names to consider, Matilda, Hattie, Hettie, Elodie.

sleepingbeautiful · 27/08/2013 22:14

I like it but my DH didn't so it got crossed off.
You may like Felicia, Frances, Lydia, Harriet (Hattie), Juliet, Cassia, Verity, Louisa, Merryn, Elowen, Eleri, Rowan, Robyn, Vivienne/Vivian, Antonia, Margaret...

Icouldntadviseitsir · 27/08/2013 22:00

I've nc'd for this :) its my name and I actually hate it....

Never could find anything with my name on as a child! Also people often go to spell it with a ph.

I don't really like any of the nn but over the years have been called most of them.Really don't do it ...

DessieLou · 27/08/2013 21:51

Such a pretty name. I know one who gets called Fliss. How about Annaliese, Genevieve, Francine (I'm told this is vile, but I like it!), Clarissa, Penelope?
