Need help with name for 1 week old girl

Our little girl is one week old now and I feel a bit stressed because we can't decide on a name. The husband is very supportive and open for suggestions, I'm the one who feels that no name is "perfect enough". The names we're considering are:

Cordelia - Afraid it will be confused with Cornelia
Adrienne - Unusual, feminine
Lillian - will probably be called Lilly anyway

Names we've decided not to use:
Amelia/Emilia - too common
Lilly - too common
Josephine - I just didn't like it as much as my husband
Philippa - very close relative just named their daughter this
Henriette/Henrietta - Husband said no

We want a feminine name and nothing too out there but not a top 100 name. I thought I'd "know" once I saw her what she'd be called but no... Now I just want to get it over with. So please, any thoughts, suggestions?

Love Cordelia, nn Dilly?

WinkyWinkola · 26/08/2013 13:37

Cordelia is great. Can't see how a mix up would occur with Cornelia.

Isadora?
Ophelia?
Mary?
Susannah?
Beatrix?

My DD2's name is Kelsie. Quite pretty and unusual, number 170ish last year.

Cordelia is nice though, could be shortened to Cordy which I think is cute. Not too keen on Lillian or Adrienne personally but it's your choice. It's one of the hardest decisions to make, its hard to imagine any new baby using that name for the rest of their lives! Try calling her a name for a little while to see how it suits her/feels to you. Good luck and congratulations.

Adrienne is lovely, Cordelia would come second, prefer Lilia to Lillian, your choices are nice, good luck!

BonaDea · 26/08/2013 12:31

I love all your original choices. I don't think cordelia is confusing at all.

TheBleedinObvious · 26/08/2013 12:27

Or Ariadne

TheBleedinObvious · 26/08/2013 12:26

I don't think you should rule out top 100 names. If you don't want overly popular names then maybe rule out the top 50, but some of the top 100 names are not very common at all iykwim. Just choose something you like.

I like adrienne. Lillian would be shortened to lily which is very common at the moment. What are about Adriana or Arianna or Arianne?

I don't like cordelia. But if you like it enough use it.

To be honest I wouldn't worry about whether a name is popular or not. Put that aside for a minute and pick a name you like!

MortifiedAdams · 26/08/2013 08:30

Lilian is my favourite from your list, but I would.use Lil.

Of your list cordelia is the best IMO. And I don't think it would get confused with Corneilia. Although I am of the Buffy/Angel generation so know cordelia more than Corneilia.

RoadToTuapeka · 26/08/2013 08:29

Cordelia is lovely, no confusing it with Cornelia! Agree Adrienne liable to mispronounciation. Congrats on your new baby!
