Feeling sick to my stomach that Katie Price has just named her baby the same name as my son!

Currently holding my head in my hands rocking back and forth screaming "whhhhyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!"

Well, not really..... But I feel like doing that. I thought I had hit the jackpot with Jett, unique yet masculine and not too weird sounding and now KATIE PRICE has named her son Jett too.

Sorry, just had to have a rant. :(

Jett is kind of a celeb-child name though? I don't mean that badly, it just is fairly 'out-there' by most standards?

Anyway cheer up, if you have a little girl you can call her Princess Tiiami Crystal. So that will be nice.

JakeBullet · 20/08/2013 08:30

Jett is a fabulous name...and she has good taste like you. Smile

....and she is copying. ..you chose the name first Wink

CogDat · 20/08/2013 08:23

I also thought the Space Detective was very funny. Kudos to badtime.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 19/08/2013 21:17

Badtime: I actually arfed at JettRiviera Space Detective! Excellent...

I have made a pact with dd that she will call her son JettRiviera LotsaTuddles in honour of this thread. She claims she may forget but I have the memory of an elephant.... So what if she Is only 9....

LEM aforementioned dd is a Lucy. Six months after she was born my sil got a new dog and called it, yes, you've guessed...

Onesleeptillwembley · 19/08/2013 21:12

She used the word 'chavvy' in reference to Katie Price. She can't complain that people are agreeing that yes, 'Jet' as a name is 'chavvy'. But I will say Persephone is lovely. Massive difference in the style of her children's names. Lucky Persephone drew the long straw.

TSSDNCOP · 19/08/2013 20:49

Ah I'd forgotten about Harvey, that's quite nice too.

OP don't let the snidey fuckers get you down. You loved DS's name before and you should continue to do so.

GiveMeVegemite · 19/08/2013 20:35

Some of you are seriously nasty and need to get a life. Luckily I don't value or pay any attention to the bitchy opinions of random ladies (or men), on an Internet forum, especially when I haven't even asked for them. So grow up, get some decency and stop being horrible to people you don't know, using the veil of anonymity that this site offers. As some have said, I bet you wouldn't say any of this in real life!

I know you will all probably now jump back on and slate me some more and just prove how malicious you are....be my guest. It just makes you look like a bitch.

Thanks to those of you how actually took my thread for what is was and offered kind and supportive responses.

(My turn Pictish! Grin)
I agree with Pictish! (And LEMisdisappointed)

When is it ever ok to be really vindictively mean about a name someone has already given their child? If someone starts a thread saying "what do you think about xxx name?" then it's not surprising - but still not nice - when people say they don't like it. Personally, I see no point saying "I don't like it". Who gives a monkeys. I do see the point in pointing out that the name rhymes with something rude, that it has an unpleasant meaning etc that the OP is perhaps unaware of. The OP may not care, but its objective info they can take on board.

The OP's point with this thread was that she doesn't want people to think she's named her son after Jordan's kid. Even if you're Jordan's biggest fan, you know fine well that a LOT of people don't aspire to being anything like her. The OP's original post was not nasty. Many of the responses on here are spiteful & unwarranted. It's obviously rude but its perhaps worth noting that writing bitchy comments doesn't make the OP look like a dick ....

AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/08/2013 19:48

That would be Harvey.

TSSDNCOP · 19/08/2013 19:45

Would it help OP if I told you I thought "thank god, at least one of her kids has a normal name".

badtime Space detective lol.

LEMisdisappointed · 19/08/2013 19:19

Yes, its downright fucking rude and ignorant to slag off someone's name choice, especially if they have already made it. If they come on and say - im thinking of calling my child Titsalinabumsquash then by all means say, don't be a twat it will be shortened to tits but if the decision has already been made then this would be an example of a time when the adage "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" comes into its own!

I have two DDs, DD1s turned out to be THE most popular name of that year and there were four girls with the same name in her class. DD2 is called Lucy and for some reason, the world and his wife has started calling their Dogs lucy Angry this really does piss me off!! Well it doesn't really especially as lucy spends most of her time pretending to be a dog anyway

I like Jett, I think it's unusual without being chavvy! My friend had a baby George the day before Prince George and she feels the same as you! I don't think Jett will rocket as much as George thoughWink

5madthings · 19/08/2013 19:02

Bloody hell some of you aremean!

Fwiw op, I felt similar when not long after we named ds4 rudi the radio one DJ Edith bowman had a baby and names him rudi! I was pissed as I thought it may get really popular etc, it hasnt done tho.

I also have an 11 ur old Oscar and was annoyed by the baby Oscar on EastEnders, it wasn't a popular name at all when we chose it but is now.

pictish · 19/08/2013 18:59

I don't think it's fine to slag off anyone's child's name in this manner, no matter who's kid and what the name. If a person already has a child with that name, then keep your slating to your fucking self...be it Jett OR Persephone!

It's not cool.

Pinupgirl · 19/08/2013 18:58

I didn't slate it. I just said it not a proper name because imo it isn't. I don't think its too horrible though and if I were op I wouldn't worry about the Katie thing.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/08/2013 18:54

Funny how, when you slate a name like Jett you get jumped on, yet it was fine on another thread to slag off Persephone. Both are the names of the OP in question's children. Double standard much.

Pinupgirl · 19/08/2013 18:50

Jett is not a name. Has your child got a middle name he can use when he is older? Although I am sure no one will assume you copied Katie-she is almost a nobody now.

emmaliz · 19/08/2013 15:16

I think Jett is a great name. Smile Smile

badtime · 19/08/2013 12:55

I think Jett Riviera sounds like a budget airline with delusions of grandeur.

It also falls foul of my 'space detective' test. It's how I test if a name is silly - say NAME: SPACE DETECTIVE, and if it sounds reasonable, don't do it.

JETT RIVIERA: SPACE DETECTIVE!

K8Middleton · 19/08/2013 12:42

It reminds me of the nice lady off Gladiators.

Hahahahahahahahahahhaha
