DH and I have been debating names for a girl. He refuses to look in a book for names he likes so I have to fire them at him Hmm and I'm all out of ideas.

The rules are:
No ee sounds (middle names already both end in ee) or anything that would turn into ee in French, so nothing with I either
No Ts or Ths (because it has to work in French without changing too much and our surname starts T)
Can't end in -a
Ideally have some link to England/Britain (but Elizabeth and Victoria have been eliminated)
Already in use in this generation: Anne, Carole, Isabel, Mary, Rowan, Jeanne, Charlotte, Cleo

Margaret (or Margerite)
Rachel
Juliette
Megan
Catherine

Oh it's hard to fit all those criteria!

Tell me about it!

Rachel and Megan are the only two that do, and one would be effectively naming a girl after our car Grin

Chloé - ee in English
Zoé - ee in English
Estelle - t
Annabelle - it works!
Maud - that too!
Laurane/Laurène - and that!
Jade - and that (but I don't like it)
Lou - don't really like nicknames as names so it would be Louise and then we have the ee problem
Madeleine - makes me feel sad because of the poor McCanns
Adèle - the singer
Adélaïde - I love, DH hates
Hélène - works and I quite like it
Laure - not sure in English
Mathilde - t and ee in French
Lucille - ee in French
Constance - my best friend's daughter!
Florence - Works
Rose - works but so popular
Jeanne - already taken
Adeline - ee
Gaëlle - I taught about 20 of these last year

What's the betting DH will veto everything? And why is it so bloody hard to find a name? We had boys names all lined up perfectly.

I find name firing the worst way of deciding for me as I just end up saying no without really considering the name!

How about something like Alice?

Charlotte

LynetteScavo · 12/08/2013 22:32

I think you need to go through a baby name dictionary, make a list of names you like, and your DH will have to say which ones he likes.

FromageFrog · 12/08/2013 22:39

Charlotte has a t

sausageandorangepickle · 12/08/2013 22:45

Sarah?
Helen?
Nina?
Nancy?
Erika?
Heather?

These rules are really hard!

sausageandorangepickle · 12/08/2013 22:46

And just realised that Erika doesn't fit the rules Sad
