There was a great thread just before Christmas where people posted their grandparents (and great grandparents ... and beyond!) names. I don't know how to link on my phone but if you search for 'grandparents' you should find it. Worth a look! Smile

Gosh there's one great ideas on here!

I really quite like Ron - Ronnie, and Ernest - Ernie? Stanley is pretty cool as well! I'm surprised actually how many boys names are obviously pretty timeless in fact, lots of Fredericksburg, Harry's etc.

marilynwhirlwind · 13/08/2013 01:52

Both my grandfathers were called Harry, seems it was as popular in the late 19th century as it is now!

All from that generation:

(Alf)red
Lewis
Reginald
Edward (Ted)

Oubliette0292 · 12/08/2013 21:00

My DS is Wilfred and I still love it as a name. I also like Hugh, Alec, Ernest and Percy.

My grandads were Christopher (although everyone called him Kit), and Albery Henry (who was always known as Arthur). I had great-uncles called Marmaduke and Nelson, but I'm guessing that these names won't make a come back!

GreatJoanUmber · 12/08/2013 20:52

Albert
Bertram
Cecil
Desmond
Ernest
Frank
Gerald
Herbert
...

MadameJosephine · 12/08/2013 20:11

I love Ernest! Although I think I would probably spell it Earnest
