Two syllable boys names that CAN'T be shortened!

RiceorChips · 12/08/2013 12:47

I know that most names can be shortened however, some names have much more obvious / common shortened versions than others.
For example, popular ones include Daniel (Dan), Thomas (Tom) and Samuel (Sam).

I'm looking for suggestions on 2 syllable boys names that can't be shortened (or at least have less obvious shortenings). For example, Leon, Caleb and Niall.

Any suggestions please???? Thank you!!

Not two syllables, but Craig?

TickledOnion · 13/08/2013 07:44

How about Isaac, Noah or Nathan?

Just a word of warning- you can't win! We called DS a name that can't be shortened and his friends call him something else completely!

I have a Cosmo (no. 1191 in 2012 ONS!). We often call him Cos .... I think whatever name you give will be shortened, or lengthened. People like to give people nn, it's a form of endearment/familiarity.

I have a Theo, he is actually Theodore on his BC but we call him Theo and that doesn't get shortened.

We have an Oscar which does get shortened to oz/Ozzy by some of his friends.

We also have Dylan and rudi neither of them have had their name shortened, we ocassionally called Dylan.. Dyl but his friends don't. Ditto rudi is rude dude or various other silly versions but his friends all call him rudi.

I have an Adam for this very reason... And everyone calls him Ads!

gindrinker · 12/08/2013 20:26

But if it's a boy if the first name can't be shortened then the last name comes into play.
Jackson becomes jacko
Smith becomes smithy/smitho etc

My mom called me Adele as she thought no one could possibly shorten it, but my peers found ways, delly and dells were particularly annoying! I wouldn't worry yourself trying to find names not to shorten because boys will, or worse, just to refer to them by their surname!
