And can you please give me some examples? Is it a sort of trying to be trendy name that will date?

Albert.

OH loves it, I loathe it.

Look at the Horatio thread for a good example of a marmite name.

Martha is beautiful! I would have picked if it went with the surname.

I know you've had your question answered but couldn't resist sharing my marmite names:

  • Seth
  • Taylor
  • Axel
  • Clementine
  • putting Mae, hyphenated, after any name e.g. Ella-Mae, Lexi-Mae

I have picked a marmite name myself by the way - Martha for a girl. Someone told me the other day they thought I was joking when I said it was my favourite name Smile

Ah ok, thanks! Feeling a bit stupid, that should've been obvious :-)

Its a love it/hate it name. It provokes strong responses either for or against.

I give you Quentin as an example.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2013 16:46

It's just a name that inspires really strong feelings for and against.

Isobel is one.
Seth is another.
Names like Daisy and Poppy etc are others.
