Youme.
Spelled youme, said you,me.
I asked where it was from, parents said in unison 'she's a little bit of you and a little bit of me'.

This actually happened.

Youme had a sibling, answers on a postcard please!

Yumi is good. Shame they didn't spell it like that.

Rhubarbgarden · 11/08/2013 23:44

The house next door to us when I was little was called Erzanmine. As in, Hers and Mine. Maybe this family are related.

Jbck · 11/08/2013 23:11

What was the sibling's name? Put us put of our misery Smile

JazzAnnNonMouse · 11/08/2013 22:50

Serious as serious can be!!

I think it's a bit self important on the parent's side. Why do they need to gloat their yucky love through a child's actual name? It might as well have been called 'wedidthehibbidydibbidywinkwink'

caramelwaffle · 11/08/2013 00:25

Yumi is lovely.

Youme is feckin' awful.

ChippingInHopHopHop · 11/08/2013 00:21

Are you actually serious or is our collective leg being pulled - or were they pulling your leg? Surely no-one with all their marbles would call a child Youme.

Mummyoftheyear · 11/08/2013 00:08

Lolling Soon.

soontobeslendergirl · 10/08/2013 23:46

Aww I was hoping the sibling was called Usan'all (us an' all/us as well) :o

zipzap · 10/08/2013 22:39

I was at school with a Japanese girl called Yumi too - short for Yumiko, both of which I think are very pretty Japanese names.

But it's a shame for any following children because they'll also be (hopefully!) a little bit of both parents and they'll have not have that celebrated in their name.

Unless it's called Himher. Or Herhim. Or Meyou. Oh blimey - they could name 3 more kids with variations on this theme. ShockGrin

Solarbaboon · 10/08/2013 16:57

I quite like it too

fieldfare · 10/08/2013 16:50

I used to work with a lovely Japanese lady called Yumi.

What a shame they didn't think of something quirky for the 2nd child though.

tobiasfunke · 10/08/2013 16:46

Alan

Mummyoftheyear · 10/08/2013 16:43

I like it. Sounds Japanese.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 10/08/2013 16:30

Think Amy, Sarah, Katie kind of name.

Fair enough choosing unusual names and tbf I quite like it in a quirky way but that the sibling was called a very normal name made it look like some kind of social experiment Grin

Imagine being at school.....
Teacher: so today we will talk about our names. Youme, where does your name originate?
Youme: well, apparently I'm a bit of mum and a bit of dad. How are babies made?
Teacher: what's your brother called?
Youme: Bob

JazzAnnNonMouse · 10/08/2013 16:25

No they weren't Japanese. They were as white British as you can get iyswim, when I asked where it was from I had expected a family connection/ story/ link to another language etc

Siblings name was very very normal.

I quite like it

fuzzpig · 10/08/2013 16:17

Let's hope they don't have to call one "youmilkman" or something

starrystarryknut · 10/08/2013 16:16

Yumi (pron. You-me) is a very nice Japanese name. Were they Japanese? (Somehow I'm not optimistic...)

MissAntithetic · 10/08/2013 16:16

Was the second one called a bitmorelikeyounotsomuchlikeme?

superram · 10/08/2013 16:15
