All through my pregnancy (now 31w) our baby girl was going to be called Flora. Now I have been given a section date for 36w and am just not sure any more!!
Would love some feedback on the following names:
Flora
Martha
Petra
Anya
Middle name to be Mary.

If it helps at all my other children are called:
James
Erica
Samuel

Many thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply Grin

Thanks everyone, Mary is my mums name but everyone calls her may and originally that was the choice of second name. Then in my hormonal madness I realised that all my other children had a saints name either as first or middle and dc4 would be the only one without!! Should I go back to may??
I am leaning more towards Flora I must admit.

I love Flora and Petra, not fussed on either Anya or Martha.
I also love the name Mary, which is very underused.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/08/2013 22:56

I like Martha best, but not with Mary.
Don't like Petra.
Anya is nice and perhaps 'works' better with Mary than Martha does.

exoticfruits · 08/08/2013 22:29

I like Martha best- all OK except Petra but I don't think that any go with Mary- you need a longer name if you are going to use it.

WideScreenViper · 08/08/2013 22:13

Well, against the majority I vote for Petra, it is a strong name like Erica. Flora a close second because of the flower connection and....I like it better. A bit irrational maybe but it is just happier sounding than the other two.

Ihatepeas · 08/08/2013 21:29

Love love love Petra, Anya and Flora. Really dislike Martha (sorry)
I think if you've had you're heart set on Flora then she should be Flora. It's a beautiful name and goes well with your other children's names.

RobinV · 08/08/2013 12:09

Flora is very pretty though it does make me think a bit of margarine... have you considered Petrina - the diminutive of Petra? x

BlueStarsAtNight · 08/08/2013 11:55

Sounds like you are pleased that Flora is proving popular, and would be disappointed if it wasn't, so I'd say you've made your choice already! I really like Martha too but Flora is also lovely.

Caip · 08/08/2013 10:05

I love Flora best, Martha's really nice but there are more of them than Floras

Razzdazz · 08/08/2013 09:58

Thanks so much for all your input x

LOVE Martha, but then I'm bias - it's my nieces name. Love Flora too.

soontobeslendergirl · 07/08/2013 19:53

Flora or Matha are both lovely. Petra is a dog and Anya sounds like a medical condition :o

Rhubarbgarden · 07/08/2013 19:35

Flora! I love it. Knocks spots off the others.

Saffyz · 07/08/2013 18:24

Anya

KateCroydon · 07/08/2013 16:44

Petra. 'rose-red city half as old as time'

Coconutty Grin it is Mother Mary. But Martha Mary sounds very very close to it.

Sleepyfergus · 07/08/2013 12:46

And if do go for Martha, you need to get this book. It's adorable!!

LOVE Flora & prefer it to your other options.

Feelslikea1sttimer · 07/08/2013 12:13

We have chosen Martha Elizabeth as our name (that could all change)

I love Flora, but we have friends with a little girl named Flora and they did get a couple of Hmm faces when they announced it.

I do think all your names are lovely Anya Mary works well

Good Luck

Sleepyfergus · 07/08/2013 12:11

I have 2 DDs with 'a' endings and it sounds fine, so don't let that put you off. I do like Flora and it doesn't scream butter at me in the slightest. I like all your options in fact. Congrats and all the best for the birth!

driftwoodsands · 07/08/2013 12:06

Martha stands out as really fitting in well with your other children's names. It's very sweet. I see Martha as dark haired, whilst Flora has lighter coloured hair, so perhaps wait and see what she looks like!

Razzdazz · 07/08/2013 11:58

It does appear that I have a thing for 'a' ending names Grin
