More masculine girls names...

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 06/08/2013 14:02

We have two girls both with short, feminine but strong names- think Thea, Edie etc. If we have another girl I would like to choose something a bit less girly. IYSWIM

I've been thinking...
Frankie- any other long names for this nn other than Frances?
Cameron- nn Cami
Joss
Jude
Jules
Eliette (wild card- pronounced Elliot)
Cleo?! (Cleona)
Charlie (DP does not like Charlotte- I love it, any other long names?)

Not a fan of the Ellie-Mae, Gracie-Lou kind of names (sorry). Do not like Sam, Max or Robyn for a girl

Thanks

Sorry to reserect an old thread but I found out that I was having a little girl todaySmileSmile!!!!!!
Dp and I were against finding out the sex until the sonogropher asked if we wanted to know and we said yes!
We went and bought a few girly bits today which was weird! Obviously we know it's not 100% but it seems more real now we know baby is fine and dandy and we've passed 20 weeks!

Just wanted to share as no one in rl knows!!!

2 of my favourite at the moment are Henrietta and Claudia - I think Claude for a girl is really cute and there are a few different options with Henrietta
I also love Peta (pron. Peter), met one at a wedding and I'm sure she gets fed up of having to repeat it but I like it

moas · 08/08/2013 14:18

Maxine - Max !

racingheart · 07/08/2013 20:43

I know two girls called Sydnee - really suits them both, and one called Bryan (really, with that spelling too, not even Bryanne)

Stevie from Stephanie
Mickie - Michaela
Ronnie - Veronica
Vic - Victoria
Claude (love this name)

MadBannersAndCopPorn · 07/08/2013 20:38

Jo - from Josephine.
Clem - from Clemency

Don't know if it helps but DD2 has Beatrice as a middle name. She's known as Bear Grin

badtime · 07/08/2013 13:11

Frankie could also be Francisca (the Spanish/Portuguese version).

For Charlie, I think you could probably used the other names derived from Charles, such as Caroline/Carolyn? It's a bit of a stretch, though.

EstelleGetty · 07/08/2013 10:33

I love Lou for a girl (not as a suffix like Mary-Lou etc). It sounds quite strong. It could be shortened from Louise or I did know a French baby girl called Louison (traditionally a male name, but very nice).

I don't have any DCs yet, but if we had a girl we'd call her Lucienne and shorten that to Lou.

curlew · 07/08/2013 08:54

Why would you give a girl a boy's name?

Beer0Clock · 07/08/2013 08:49

Lindsay

Rakoshi · 07/08/2013 08:47

I have a Carly that got shortened to Billy and now answers to Bill.

There was a show called Sisters were the father wanted boys, but got all the girls. These are the names and nicknames of the girls.

Alexandra - Alex
Theodora - Teddy
Georgiana - Georgie
Francesca - Frankie

WeleaseWodger · 07/08/2013 07:50

Leslie

(Unisex but at the same time I knew a very girlie Leslie so it feels feminine to me)

Onyabike · 07/08/2013 07:48

Erin? Predominantly used as a feminine forename, but can be used for both sexes.

pebblepots · 07/08/2013 07:43

Agree with Bluestars, Belinda is nice for Billie. Getting Billie from Willow seems a bit random.
