Pick your favourite please Grin

(Dulcie Theodora might work too,but I don't like Hebe Clementine)

I don't think of Dulcie as girly at all....I'm not at all girly, though DD1 is...so I know it's not a genetic thing Grin

I like all of those names. I prefer Dulcie and I think it goes with either middle name. If I had to pick one I would go with Dulcie Theodora. You rarely say someone's whole name together so I don't think it matters having a long middle name and double barrelled surname.

teatimesthree · 07/08/2013 20:21

Hebe is great. Strong, versatile.

I agree with whoever said Dulcie was wet. It is a very 'girly' name, and what if she isn't?

UnevenTan · 07/08/2013 20:12

Iris Theodora sounds ok to my ear too Smile

UnevenTan · 07/08/2013 20:11

Hebe Myrtle would be really sweet Smile
Ivy Clementine also lovely

GlaikitFizzog · 07/08/2013 19:58

Ivy lovely. Ivy hasn't been in corrie for about 20 years. Wouldn't worry about it. I like the winter association.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 19:53

Girls names are doing my head in...I might move on to boys names for a bit....seeing as the baby refused to perform for the camera and is only 'probably' a girl Hmm

I have never, ever, seen corrie,or east enders or any other intentionally depressing soap operas. thank god So I don't particularly care about characters therein Wink

No,not hugely keen on Dorothea....which is odd I suppose.

Hebe is such a prosaic plant is the problem for me, more of a shrub? Love dulce and ivy :)

Laquila · 07/08/2013 19:36

I don't dislike Ivy, and don't particularly think it's twee, but for me it always makes me think of evil Ivy Brennan in Corrie, and certainly if I used it that would be the first comment from every single member of my extended Mancunian family Hmm

Do you like Hebe Dorothea?

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 19:29

Yeah, well I also love Myrtle and Mildred so I obviously like the dusty/fishwife sort of names Wink

Currently falling in love again with Ivy...it was on our list last time (but DC2 was DS)
I'm due in December....to twee?

I do too BigBong It always conjures up an image of a loud fishwife with a hacking smoker's cough to me. Grin

BigBongTheory · 07/08/2013 18:31

I find Dulcie really unattractive sounding and don't get why people on love itmso much. DD's name often has the same said about it tbf and it's on this page :).

All of the others are nice but Hebe Theodora sounds harsh to my ear and a bit repetitive dorsome reason. I like Hebe Clementine.

TheRealFellatio · 07/08/2013 17:02

I like them all except Dulcie. I think Dulcie is awful, sorry.

UnevenTan · 07/08/2013 17:01

Hebe is lovely. Clementine is also nice, but not together.

Theodora and Dulcie are dire, and the combinations do not work, especially with a double-barrelled name.

Iris is nice.

Hebe Margo is ok.

Hebe Edith might work Smile

stickortwist · 07/08/2013 16:54

Hebe is lovely.

I wouldnt stress about middle names too much. You never use them in real life anyway.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 16:52

Eh?!

Clemmy-door WTAF?

I'm not even proposing to use clementine and Theodora together Hmm

OP posts:
alicetrefusis · 07/08/2013 16:38

No. I'm afraid it reminds me of Hinge and Bracket. Sorry OP.

Clementine-Theodora. Clemmy-Dor.

Keztrel · 07/08/2013 16:08

Dulcie is lovely! Also love Theodora and Clementine, and all three in any combination are great.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 07/08/2013 10:26

Yes, Dulcie Theodora is lovely. I think you should go for it.

Disclaimer - each of my dc have 3 middle names and I didn't and don't give a toss that this is not The Done Thing. :o

HahaHarrie · 07/08/2013 10:21

Love Clementine Theodora for a shorter version, how about Clemence Theodora?

Or Hebe Theodora Clementine.

Not keen on Dulcie at all. Sorry.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 10:15

Thanks Scone

At the moment I still love Dulcie Theodora but DP prefers Hebe.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 07/08/2013 10:01

The shoe shop was Dolcis but mostly pronounced Dulcie.

I like Hebe and Dulcie, know a little girl called Dulcie and it is sweet. I think I prefer Theodora as a MN though.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 07/08/2013 09:38

As I have said at least twice on this thread,we do not want to have a long first name because our surname is too long.
Also,I don't like any of those names. My name is Louise and I hate it. Its boring, for a start.
DP has a very unusual (and feminine)name and he's always got on just fine with it,he likes it.
I've never heard of the shoe shop...hmmm....

OP posts:
notanyanymore · 06/08/2013 22:54

I love the name Clementine, my mum wanted it for me but DF put his foot down, I wanted it for all 3 of my DD's but DP was completely unconvinced. I like Dulcie, except it reminds me of the shoe shop (although probably only because I worked there as a teen)

Could you have Clementine Dulcie? Wink

For some reason Hebe always sounds like a male name to me, and with Theodora too...

Doesn't sound 'try hard' to me either, personally I couldn't give a faff what people call their kids but I never get why its ok to be a reverse snob, but not a snob! its basically the same thing hate mail judgey
