I'm getting closer to settling on a name for a future dd. So which would you prefer? TIA

Love Iris, quite like Ivy. Hate Clementine.

OrangeBlossom2 · 31/07/2013 11:07

I have the same dislike of ivy after spending hours removing it from our fence!

I think Iris and Clementine are both pretty.

thegreylady · 31/07/2013 08:16

Iris because I didn't much care for my Aunty Ivy and irises are prettier than ivy which clings to walls and erodes mortar :-)

BeyonceCastle · 31/07/2013 08:02

Clementine Iris

I had a great aunt Ivy - thought it was a biddy name, is it back in fashion? Confused

also makes me think - Mares eat oats and Does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy...

Much prefer Iris as you can buy her bunches of it each birthday yes I am that twee

YoMamma · 31/07/2013 07:55

I agree with tortoise - I prefer the name Iris but Ivy sounds better with Clementine.

Ham69 · 31/07/2013 04:14

Love both. Think iris may be getting quite popular if that bothers you.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 31/07/2013 03:47

I prefer Iris as a name, but I think Ivy Clementine runs together better.

sleepingbeautiful · 31/07/2013 03:41

Iris. Elegant, and makes me think of a 1920s bright young thing dancing the charleston. Ivy makes me think of my Mum's overweight, frumpy sister (who incidentally hates her name), and due to Beyonce it's probably going to be more popular in the wrong sort of way.

Clementine Iris!

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 30/07/2013 22:12

ClemetINE like the song!

Is it pronounced ClementINE like the song and the fruit, or clementeen like mrs Churchill? If the first I like Iris, if the second, Ivy!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 30/07/2013 22:07

Ivy. Definitely. Iris is too new-agey to go with Clementine IMO. (Iris always makes me think of Isis!)

telsa · 30/07/2013 22:05

Also Iris Clementine sounds like I Risk Clementine

telsa · 30/07/2013 22:04

Ivy Clementine is soon much prettier and cooler.

niffernaffer · 30/07/2013 19:39

Much prefer Iris Clementine.

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 30/07/2013 19:35

It had occurred to me that Ivy Clementine was quite Christmassy....though I quite like that actually! Blush

Love both, but Ivy gets my vote

QueLinda · 30/07/2013 19:16

Iris is quite chic and it works well in a lot of languages.

Ivy in away due a revival with all the name ending in 'ee' sounds. It's just a bit harsh, maybe it's the poison Ivy connection.

pennylovesleonard · 30/07/2013 18:59

Ivy!

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 30/07/2013 18:58

I'd love to love Iris....but it just makes me think of eyeballs....

CajaDeLaMemoria · 30/07/2013 18:39

I love Ivy Clementine.

Mumblyboo · 30/07/2013 18:39

Poison ivy?? nuff said. Iris means rainbow which is pretty.

Mollie272 · 30/07/2013 17:19

I prefer Iris I think - Clementine is a lovely name though, I'd be tempted to put it first.

Allalonenow · 30/07/2013 17:14

Iris Clementine. Iris is so much prettier than Ivy.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 30/07/2013 17:14

Hadn't thought about the Christmassy connections of Clementine....is it bad that it makes me like it more for my December due date ??
