I'm having my first child (a boy) in three months (ish) and am trying to get a list of possible names together.

I love TONS of names, but OH is very fussy and once he likes one or two is like 'that's enough now, no need to look any more'!

So far we have...

Reuben (his fave)
Oscar (my fave, though my mum keeps telling me she doesn't like it which is very annoying!)
And new to the list, Taylor.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I like Nathaniel too

Reuben is OK

Don't like Taylor, or Oscar (sorry)

squoosh · 29/07/2013 14:04

I like Oscar best from your trio even though it's vv popular.

Nathaniel is great too and think Nate is a much cooler abbreviation than Nat.

CornishFirstTimer22 · 29/07/2013 13:53

I'm working on him and he now says he'l 'consider' nathaniel, Nate for short. I also quite like Sebastian, and Albert (with Albie or Bertie as a NN).

Fingers crossed I can expand the list!

Oscar wins by miles for me. Really dislike Taylor, sorry.

hurricanemum · 28/07/2013 19:43

Oscar - a dog
Reuben - lovely but v on trend
Taylor - don't like and I think of a girl too?

Is Jago not a Cornish surname? Love nathaniel (work on him?!) what about Jesse, Cal, Daniel ...

fluffyraggies · 28/07/2013 19:28

So OP what would happen if you refused Reuben? Would he allow Oscar?

I don't like Taylor personally. I knew a little girl called Taylor and she was spoilt and awful. Sorry.

Oscar is V.popular. But if you love it - you have it.

Horrid when relatives pee on your parade - (your mother). Ignore. It's your baby.

GW297 · 28/07/2013 19:21

Nathaniel is a great name. Harry nice too.

Wbdn28 · 28/07/2013 18:25

Prefer Reuben to Oscar. Taylor too surnamey.

Wbdn28 · 28/07/2013 18:24

Solomon
Amos
Jacob
Ethan
Joshua

Clargo55 · 28/07/2013 18:20

Also agree with Fromage, Noah and Nathaniel are lovely. Do you like Nate as a nickname?

How about EIias? Nn Eli.

Clargo55 · 28/07/2013 18:18

OP do you like any other Cornish names?

I think Lowen and Tristan are nice.

I'm in Cornwall and Reuben is very popular near me. I know of 10.

nataaaaliee92 · 28/07/2013 18:06

Defiantly Oscar :) i seem to know alot of people going for Taylor at the minute!

ChippingInHopHopHop · 28/07/2013 17:40

I wouldn't choose any of them myself, but out of those I would choose Oscar :)

However, if I were you I'd keep going until you find one you both love - you have ages yet!! Just ignore DH's protests and keep lobbing names at him that you like!

FromageFrog · 28/07/2013 17:31

Noah and Nathaniel are lovley

CornishFirstTimer22 · 28/07/2013 17:03

I have loads of other names I like but OH is fussy and has vetoed them all!! I liked Noah, Milo, Nathanial, Jago (Cornish) and Harry... All refused!

Taylor = a surname

Oscar = very very popular a few years ago.

Reuben = Very popular right now.

Still18atheart · 28/07/2013 16:16

Order of preference

  1. Oscar
  2. Taylor
  3. Reuben
Leeds2 · 28/07/2013 16:05

Tbh, I am not very keen on any of them.

If I had to, probably Reuben or Oscar. Likely Reuben, as my friend has a dog called Oscar!

stopprocrastinating · 28/07/2013 15:56

Love the name Oscar

samuelwhiskers · 28/07/2013 14:47

Reuben a gorgeous name. I know a couple and they're both delightful. There are Oscars everywhere here. Not keen on Taylor at all I'm afraid!

Rtfairy · 28/07/2013 14:35

Definitely Oscar Smile

Stat · 28/07/2013 14:32

I like Taylor.

I like Reuben too, but I see it as being very trendy, so that would put me off.

I don't like Oscar. Agree with the person who said it sounds more like a strange sound than a name.
