Not sure how I feel about using my boys name, George, if Kate and William use it. Am I being stupid or would this put you off? Not due until December so is it a big deal??

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Agh, I'm due in 4 weeks and expecting our DS3. The one and only name we agree on is Henry, so I'm really hoping they don't go with Henry!! Or else will be back to the drawing board

diddl · 23/07/2013 13:57

I think that Edward's son is now 8th in line?

diddl · 23/07/2013 13:56

Ooh-Diana's paternal GF was Albert!

arabesque · 23/07/2013 13:52

Annabel is much nicer than Beatrice or Eugenie. Pity they didn't stand their ground.
I would have thought Edward's son would be pretty far removed from the throne. The Queen (or, I presume, her advisers) should have kept her/their beak out.

Backpaw · 23/07/2013 13:40

I met a 'Magic' today (boy). I wonder.....

CockyFox · 23/07/2013 13:36

In reply to the original post, I am named after a Royal, my parents were going to call me something different but then changed it there were 7 of us in my class at school with the same name. It has never bothered me, in fact I don't think anyone has ever commented on it.

soontobeslendergirl · 23/07/2013 13:35

How come she allowed Zara, which is even less royal than Theodore?

Cos Princess Anne has bigger balls than Edward so probably told her to get to fuck :o

squoosh · 23/07/2013 13:33

Apparently Beatrice or Eugenie (can't remember which one) was going to be called Annabell by her parents but the Queen said 'no' as she didn't approve of her granddaughter having the same name as a nightclub.

squoosh · 23/07/2013 13:31

I think because much like Savannah the further away from succeeding the thrown they are, the less control she feels the need to exert over their names.

arabesque · 23/07/2013 13:30

Can the Queen veto names? How come she allowed Zara, which is even less royal than Theodore?

diddl · 23/07/2013 12:40

Hasn't William got a cousin George-Lady Sarah's son?

I'm sure I read somewhere that James is a favourite-but would also have thought not due to that being Edward's son.

Also read that Edward & Sophie wanted to call him Theodore, but the Queen vetoed itSad

soontobeslendergirl · 23/07/2013 11:38

Ha Ha - maybe :o

We took 3 days for our first and a week and a hlaf with our 2nd so the country might have a bit of a wait on it's hands........and they might starve in their room in the meantime....unless of course Queenie has their newborn held hostage outside the locked room :o

squoosh · 23/07/2013 11:34

They are probably locked in a room with a laminated sheet bearing two names and the Queen is sitting outside with the keys saying 'make up your minds'.

soontobeslendergirl · 23/07/2013 11:18

True but not so close to the throne.

My left field option guess would be something like Nicholas or Lawrence - still not that different but away from the "royal" selection.

squoosh · 23/07/2013 11:08

Alfred might work, but I bet they'd be put off by the masses of Alfies all over the country.

I don't like Edmund, but I do like Eddie so I won't be too dismissive of it.

I LOVE Johnny. You can't go wrong calling your son Johnny.

It would be amazing if they went completely left field. After all the Queen has a great granddaughter called Savannah!

soontobeslendergirl · 23/07/2013 11:07

i think Blackadder would put me off Edmund but they are probably too young to remember it :)

arabesque · 23/07/2013 11:03

Does it have to be the name of a former King? I mean there was a King Richard 1 etc so why can't this King be a something the first?

John has a classic royal feel about it and I think Princess Diana's father was called Johnnie so it would be a nice way of remembering her.

NomDeClavier · 23/07/2013 11:02

I think Edmund is in the running.

soontobeslendergirl · 23/07/2013 10:49

Squoosh - unless they go completely unconventional which I don't think they will, then I am sticking to my Edgar or Alfred with David as an outsider. Could be Arthur too I guess but I reckon that will be No2 son :o

I think it will be Edgar/Alfred, Arthur and Mary for the family

squoosh · 23/07/2013 10:43

They have a very limited list don't they.

Charles is out, Andrew is out, Edward is out, William is out, Henry is out, James is out (Edward's son is a James).

Patrick is too Catholic, Michael is too Catholic

Of the names suggested here I'd go for Arthur or Edgar. Prince Eddie is a good name.

I really can't see them going for Albert, way too penis-y.

ringaringarosy · 23/07/2013 10:21

or is it windsor?i dont know not really a royalist but i am excited to hear what they call it,i hope its not george as i have a george, but i tcuod be,i think george james or edward.

ringaringarosy · 23/07/2013 10:20

doesnt it have to be a name from the house of tudor though/?it cant just be any kings name apparently.

Serenity6 · 23/07/2013 10:09

Prince Alexander would be nice!

TwoTearsInABucket · 23/07/2013 10:08

I am adding to be OP and hawk's horror. Don't use Edward - its the only boy's name I vaguely like and DS2 due in November.

Although they can have my absolute first choice of boy's name which is Axel!

pygmy · 23/07/2013 09:52

I think they'll go for Alexander
