Not sure how I feel about using my boys name, George, if Kate and William use it. Am I being stupid or would this put you off? Not due until December so is it a big deal??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dimdommilpot · 24/07/2013 18:30

You can still use it, i love it.

MrsMongoose · 24/07/2013 18:24

Sorry OP! Back to the drawing board?

Alisvolatpropiis · 24/07/2013 17:53

Well it's hardly an usual name in the great scheme of things, lots of little George's around.

I'd more reluctant to use a very unusual name it was give to this or any other high profile baby or indeed was already the name of a high profile person (Sienna as Miller, for example).

But I'm fairly sure you'll be fine calling yours George even if they do so first.

I don't care what people think particularly, but I care what they say. I've had enough hurtful thoughtless remarks about this pregnancy (which is financially and medically unremarkable) without wanting to field any more thoughtless bullshit once he arrives.

MissStrawberry · 24/07/2013 16:09

Why do you care what people think?

Zynzong · 24/07/2013 16:07

Richard would be an original choice BellEndTrent. I'd approve. It's a strong name, there arent' many out there. Surprised there are two on this thread tbh.

George is a perfectly good name but I want them to pick something a little less used than George.

arabesque · 24/07/2013 11:38

How about Stephen? There was a King Stephen aeons ago. Or Harold?

BellEndTent · 24/07/2013 08:28

George and Richard are my son's names. Sad

Please be more original Kate, please! Grin

AlmondFrangipani · 24/07/2013 08:22

Sadpanda I have the exact same dilemma but with Henry! I'm due in 2 weeks and we have struggled with boys names right the way through only to finally agree on 1 option!! I'm hoping they don't use Henry because of Harry...and i don't think I can use the same name as them as the comments from people 'oh you used the royal baby name' would do my head in! Fx for both of us!

sassytheFIRST · 24/07/2013 06:27

Oh and Henry is a bit dodgy too, thanks to Henry the 8th and his liking for a new wife on a regular basis - occasionally via the execution block.

sassytheFIRST · 24/07/2013 06:23

There are a number of king names which are perceived to be unlucky as Bad Things happened to the last one called that.

Richard - the third - killed in battle of Bosworth
John - hated and forced to sign Magna Carta by his barons
James - the third - booted out in favour of his sister and her husband.

So none of those are likely.

mathanxiety · 24/07/2013 05:39

Michael is a name from Russian and Greek and also Romanian royal families iirc so not too Catholic. Also there is a Prince Michael of Kent who is somewhat in the doghouse most of the time.

mathanxiety · 24/07/2013 05:28

Also he didn't have one of those little head supporting cushions around his head.

ClaraOswald · 24/07/2013 00:18

The seat was on a base and the straps were done up- just not exactly properly because he was swaddled.

WetAugust · 23/07/2013 23:55

I'd like Richard - I've used it myself Grin

HorryIsUpduffed · 23/07/2013 23:36

Speaking of car seat, did you spot that the baby wasn't actually strapped in? Sad

Zynzong · 23/07/2013 23:24

somebody should open a nightclub called kweenelizabeth. tudbee funny

Zynzong · 23/07/2013 23:22

Francis is out too i'd say, nice though it is! king/prince Frankie sounds funny! and also, too spencer, too pope.

Zynzong · 23/07/2013 23:20

He must have practised the car seat thing. I guess you would if you know you're going to be filmed fiddling hopelessly with it.

Zynzong · 23/07/2013 23:19

Frederick, Richard or Louis I think!

George is just too underwhelming. People want something a bit more 'oh my goodness, that's unfashionable!'. I think it will be Richard. I like that. Butit 's not used any more. Rich and Will.

Arthur is awful. She has good taste.

George is ok but I want more excitement
Alexander the same.

gettingeasiernow · 23/07/2013 20:55

I reckon Arthur.
DH thinks Anglesey.

chipsandpeas · 23/07/2013 20:39

id go with Ralph Wink

twinklestar2 · 23/07/2013 20:32

I reckon it'll be Alexander.

Backpaw · 23/07/2013 20:21

Wouldn't it be fun if it was Kayden, Jayden or Mustafa? Much more interesting. I'm off to Paddy Power's to put on a bet now.
