Do names remind you of things like food, for example?

I was going to post this on AIBU, but whenever I've asked people in person whether or not names evoke thoughts of certain foods or objects, they've told me I'm weird or they don't know what the hell I'm on about so I know I'll be flamed haha.

Like for example, the name Robert reminds me of custard. And Melissa reminds me of penne pasta (HAS to be penne.) I could go on and on, and I don't think there would be a name that doesn't evoke some sort of food. It's actually how I decide whether I like certain names.
I can't explain why some names remind me of certain foods, except for more obvious ones like Albert- it reminds me of Broccoli, you can see why. And Diane reminds me of Steak Diane. Tony reminds me of Frosties. Some names remind me of a food that it sounds like- Kayleigh/ Jelly. But for some reason its always food!

Anyone else like this?

George is Cheese. Cheddar George.

Blursula · 16/02/2020 22:31

I can't say or hear the name Elliot without thinking of a big floppy omelette

Spangles72 · 15/02/2020 23:09

I know this is a really old thread, but just wanted to say mayoandchips that I do this too! I’ve never googled it until tonight and that’s when I found your post on here. Most people’s names remind me of food, some obvious some not so, always just thought I was weird!!

steppemum · 13/07/2013 21:19

That's brilliant, because somehow that actually fits - cannot say why though (and he doesn't really like shellfish!)

mayoandchips · 12/07/2013 23:20

Isaac- oysters/ clams

Jacob- Crackers

I think a lot of it is association, like jacobs cream crackers and jacob. Maybe the ones I cant explain are embedded in my subconscious without realising. Like maybe as a child, I knew a fishmonger named Isaac and have forgotten about him lol

This is fascinating I've never heard of this before.

How about Jacob?

steppemum · 12/07/2013 11:40

Oh - weetabix - that is very me actually (not sure why, but somehow it fits!!)

I love the idea that words create smells/tastes/colours and textures

One more for you all (would love to give you my whole family, but I am being restrained here!!)

Isaac?

extracrunchy · 12/07/2013 10:53

Mewkins Francesca makes me think of the same thing! I wonder why...

mayoandchips · 11/07/2013 22:38

Magic, the Georgie Porgie Pudding and Pie thing makes sense. No idea why Steak and Ale though haha

MagicBaguette · 11/07/2013 22:36

mayoandchips · 11/07/2013 22:36

extracrunchy, the food version of the names you give-

Richard- mini cheddars

Hannah- apple bubblegum

Sally- salad cream

Emma- vanilla ice cream

John- macaroni

MagicBaguette · 11/07/2013 22:35

George also makes me think of pie mayoandchips - I think that link must be because of the Georgia porgie song rhyme!

MagicBaguette · 11/07/2013 22:35

Curtis - banana

Maybe a slightly odd one....but has ALWAYS (since swimming lessons age 5) reminded me of bananas!

mayoandchips · 11/07/2013 22:32

The name George reminds me of steak and ale pie , and Rebecca reminds me of Weetabix blocks.

Felicity reminds me of Viennetta lol

NooMyx- the food association thing can impact my feelings on certain names, like Matthew for example reminds me of really watery, wrinkled overcooked peas, and on that basis I don't like that name (sorry if anyone has any kin called Matthew)

OP posts:
mewkins · 11/07/2013 22:04

Hmm I do with sone names

Francesca: hazelnut chocolate spread
Melanie: lenon merigue.

Actually mine are mostly sweet things.

NooMyx · 11/07/2013 16:38

OP - do you like names according to how much you like the food btw?

extracrunchy · 11/07/2013 15:24

Felicity - glacé cherries

AllegraLilac · 11/07/2013 14:43

What does Felicity remind you of?

extracrunchy · 11/07/2013 14:26

Haha Savoy that cracked me up!

SavoyCabbage · 11/07/2013 14:21

I find verb names weird. Pat. Neil. Mark. Pierce. Even Phil. Grin

FunnysInLaJardin · 11/07/2013 14:21

extracrunchy · 11/07/2013 14:15

steppemum · 11/07/2013 14:15

extracrunchy · 11/07/2013 14:14

Rebecca - dark green felt Grin

steppemum · 11/07/2013 14:08

Ok I love threads like this, as I am totally boring and don't have any associations (except children i have taught)

So what does this name make you think of???
