Thank you all for your confirmation I am not going completely bonkers! (sleep deprivation will make a girl doubt her decision-making skills!!!)

I cancelled the registrar appointment and bought us some rome, then talked to Hubby again. This time, after some sleep himself, he was happy to discuss it and said he also was beginning to prefer Joseph if he was honest.

Now all he have to do us persuade our poor (now very confused) 3 year old that his baby brother is not called Joshua after all....Shock

Joseph - timeless and dignified!

Sanjifair · 08/07/2013 19:24

Joshua would be my choice.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 08/07/2013 09:34

I marginally prefer Josh to Joe especially for an older boy, so it would be Joshua for me.

nagynolonger · 08/07/2013 09:31

Joseph

DrMcDreamysWife · 08/07/2013 09:22

Joseph!!

Redblackcar2 · 08/07/2013 09:15

Joseph

JazzAnnNonMouse · 08/07/2013 04:50

Either is lovely Grin

TobyLerone · 08/07/2013 04:23

I like both.

DS is a Joseph (Joe) and I love it. I wish it were a little less popular for his age (13), as he's always Joe Initial, but he doesn't seem to mind :)

BeyonceCastle · 08/07/2013 02:58

Joshua cos I like Josh for a teen and as a baby nn I like Joshi
I wanted Joshua Jack so could shorten to JJ but my DH vetoed on the grounds that Joshua was too posh Hmm and no to JJ as 'we're not American' Hmm Confused Hmm
Know two Josephs both known as Joe - not keen myself but am in the minority here Smile

scripsi · 08/07/2013 02:54

I like Joshua because I really like Josh.

Namechanger012345 · 08/07/2013 02:45

Joseph but I do like both.

AnythingNotEverything · 07/07/2013 22:46

Joseph. Every time.

Devora · 07/07/2013 22:44

They're both lovely, but Joseph/Joe was my no. 1 choice if I had a boy (which I didn't).

ZolaBuddleia · 07/07/2013 22:43

Joseph, definitely.

LousThighBurn · 07/07/2013 22:43

Joseph! Although I do not like Joe very much as a nn. Congratulations to you both.

chickydoo · 07/07/2013 22:41

I have a Joseph. ' Joey' to his friends. 'Joseph ' to us. Joe to some.
Strong, kind, calm....perfect name!

IHeartKingThistle · 07/07/2013 22:39

Joseph all the way for me.

MyBoysAreFab · 07/07/2013 22:37

DS1 is Joseph/Joe. He is 13. I adore it!

PerchedOnMyPeddleStool · 07/07/2013 22:34

Joseph.

You will be glad you called him Joseph, I promise.

bugsybill · 07/07/2013 22:28

I prefer joshua

Parisbanana · 07/07/2013 22:22

If you really have no preference, can you choose between the shortened versions? Do you prefer Joe or Josh? Because even if you don't plan to shorten it, others will! Might help you decide Smile

atrcts · 07/07/2013 21:58

I was the same as you - I preferred Joseph and hubby preferred Joshua, but he's a month old now and I still cant get my head around Joshua!!!! It's hard to know if it's because its my second child (?feels like I should be calling him by first child's name?) or because the name isn't right.

Hubby now says I can choose, but I don't want to bulldoze over him as Joshua was his preference. Sometimes he agrees to anything for a peaceful life and I am always very careful to not be pushy - though often to a fault (being a walkover instead!), and all this sleep deprivation has made him unwilling to talk about it Hmm

I'd call and change the appointment tomorrow if I could get another slot - to buy us time - but they tell me they get booked up too quickly and we have just one more week left so probably wouldn't get an appointment Shock

ABitLesMis - got confused with my ** above.

miffybun73 · 07/07/2013 21:56

ABitLesMis Congratulations !

Have you agreed on a name yet? DC1 is Daniel/Dan and if I then had a 2nd boy he was going to be Joseph/Joe.

DC2 is a girl called Emily :)
