Classical and unusual boys name... help?

Naming is a big problem for us in the Bear household, where this baby could make an appearance any day now (after 37 weeks). Think we have something in mind for a girl, but totally can't get close to a boys name.

We want something classic, classy and unusual, maybe with old English/German origins. Baby's surname will begin with a B and is quite hard sounding, so we had to rule out Sebastian (nn Seb or Bastian would not work with surname), which had been a frontrunner.

I like:
Roman
Lucas
Darwin
Edison
Newton

What else might I like that I can take to DP in our never-ending quest for an apt boy's name?!

Thanks in advance!

Otis or Hugo!

Darwin is a character in a truly awful cartoon, Regular Show I think it is called.

How about Osric (as in tentacles)?

Wolfgang? (nn Wolfie)

Sebastian and Dominic are on our list this time, I love them from reading Jilly Cooper Grin

I don't think Darwin is poncey, I think it's quite fab, I know one who's just a few months old and the family are very lovely :-) It does have a marmite reaction but I love it.

LesAnimaux · 03/07/2013 19:49

Ooooh, Otto is cool!

Jonas

Darwin is poncetastic.

Lucas is popular.

Newton is a village near me, so like Brandon is not an option. Depends where you live though.

DS did go to school with a Newton. For ages I thought his name was Mutant. I even asked him after shcool one day what his name was, and it sounded just like "Mutant" when he said it. I was Confused until I saw it written down.

I've told him if he absolutely must have a SI unit for a name, I may be able to consider Kelvin or Newton as a middle name. Grin

I like your suggestions. Also a big fan of Leonard.

NooMyx I see a very familiar theme to those that go on in our house!

Aylmer is interesting - never heard that before!

Really appreciate these, am scribbling them down and will take them to DP later Grin
