I have a Tabitha,middle name Marion,after mil.NOt foud out sex yet but if its a girl we definitly love Posy,very small possibility of using Josephine officially just in case and also because its dils mothers name.

All my children have family names as middle names and theres only really NIcola,Karen,Eleanor and Ethel left.I dont like the first two so i am thinking ethel?

I know its very old lady like but i do love granny chic?Also love Percy for a boy but dh doesnt like it and whenever ive mentioned it ive had looks of pure horror,so lets hope its a girl!

I love Percy.

Posy Ethel is not nice.

Justfornowitwilldo · 02/07/2013 23:10

'Posy' Simmonds was christened Rosemary Elizabeth.

Thanks for the opinions,I think i might go for something not family related,i dont really like Eleanor,there were dozens of them at my high school and i guess i associate the name with them.I dont think our family would mind,in fact they probably dont even remember the others have their names,there are 25 grandkids so far already!and thats only dhs side my side are grandchild free.

I still adore Posy though,i KNOW there will be people who hate it,people who arent keen,there will be people who think its ok and people that love it,as demonstrated on here,thats fine with me though,i disagree it will cause her to be teased,at least not anymore than most kids are (if its not the name its something else,i remember i was one of the worst ones for it)and i love it and i think thats all thats important.

Will be giving Ethel a miss,apparently dgs nan hated it so much she changed her name to Peggy!

One or t'other would be sweet, both together is a bit much. It might work for an ethereal sprite type, but what if she turns out to be a sturdy, practical type who goes hiking?

Who spelt it wrong?

MrsBungle · 02/07/2013 21:15

Primrose Eleanor is divine.

Josephine Eleanor is also very nice.

sorry, I hate Posy and Ethel

Ragusa · 02/07/2013 21:10

Loveday? Good grief, that's bad. Posy is perfectly nice but Ethel is just terrible. She will hate it as a teen, I would put money on it.

FishfingersAreOK · 02/07/2013 21:08

Or if you want to get something engraved with their intials (both my DCs have toyboxes with their initials on)

forevergreek · 02/07/2013 21:08

I'm not sure what 'circles' you hang out in, but I can assure you that my 'circle' including ottiline, pandora, jago, Edgar, margeax etc would still be a bit wtf!

Sorry but you asked and people have given their opinion. Posy to me means dirty tissue.

Maybe:
Primrose Eleanor
Eleanora Rose
Penelope Ethel/ Eleanor

FishfingersAreOK · 02/07/2013 21:07

I have no opinions on the names - but am just wondering if you have thought through the initials. I hope you do no have a surname beginning with:
A =PEA
E=PEE
G=PEG

Initials can largely/are largely ignore. Unless you are a teenager and they make something that can be worthy for other teens to be cruel with.

MustafaCake · 02/07/2013 21:05

Was it the friend with Loveday that liked Posy?

ROFL!!!

no not poncey just an observation!If they were going to a school where most kids names were kaiden and mohammed then i would have to have to consider them standing out too much,but my ds1s best friend is called Loveday fgs! Smile
Posy really wont stand out round here,theres the fair share of Amelias and Harrys too though.

It does say that in the ballet shoes,it doesnt bother me tbh.

Poncey Posy, if she's like her mother, then.

MissStrawberry · 02/07/2013 20:44

"moves in different circles"

How poncey

ladymontdore · 02/07/2013 20:42

dictionary.reference.com/browse/posey

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 02/07/2013 20:39

"Her name is Posy. Unfortunate but true."

millymae · 02/07/2013 20:39

Am I the only one who wonders what people who are so rude about the names chosen by others have called their own children?

I'm no shrinking violet when it comes to expressing an opinion but I think that some of the comments made about the OP's choice are despicable.

Being called Posy has certainly done Posy Simmonds the children's book illustrator, writer and cartoonist no harm. So far as I know she was born sometime in the 1940's so must be well into her 60's now.

ladymontdore · 02/07/2013 20:34

You think the only stage it might be a problem are the teen years - these are the very worst years to have a difficult name!
