Need to settle a debate with DH. We have drastically different opinions about this name.

So go for it please & describe your imaginary Odette...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I went to school with an Odette. She hated her name so much even the teachers used her chosen nickname of Bobby.

NigellasGuest · 29/06/2013 22:39

She is a beautiful white swan princess

ZolaBuddleia · 29/06/2013 22:37

Haven't read other responses so as not to be swayed...

Thin, duck feet from too much ballet, wiry strawberry blond hair. Maybe even prominent teeth.

The above applies to Lydia and Felicity as well.

ClaireDeTamble · 29/06/2013 22:32

Black and from southern USA - Mississipi or New Orleans. Big and busty, but not fat as such but pretty.

Think a middle age Jennifer Hudson in Dream girls.

Alternatively, if not southern USA, then French speaking African country - same physical attributes though.

PoppyAmex · 29/06/2013 22:29

Nul, I agree with your husband. It's a very middle aged/working class combination in the continent.

WitchOfEndor · 29/06/2013 22:25

Slim, dark hair in a neat bob, dark brown eyes, pale skin

valiumredhead · 29/06/2013 22:22

Very blonde and athletic and confident-I went to school with herGrin

JassyRadlett · 29/06/2013 22:15

I always get a mental image of Odette Churchill/Hallowes, so that's my association.

nulgirl · 29/06/2013 22:14

Like someone's gran. According to my French husband it would be like calling a child the french equivalent of Jean or Hilda

mikkii · 29/06/2013 22:05

My cousin is called Odette. I haven't seen her in about 35 years.

She was, quite petite, dark skinned with dark hair.

ninah · 29/06/2013 22:01

yes, beaches! def a fat name
cries big fat tears, too

beachesandbuckets · 29/06/2013 22:00

Fat and from the Deep South, likes fried food and lives in a trailer.

Thurlow · 29/06/2013 21:59

Sturdy.

bugsybill · 29/06/2013 21:53

I think of a young girl, quiet, shy, pale skin, dark straight long hair and freckles. With a musical/artistic streak.

bugsybill · 29/06/2013 21:48

I think of a young girl, quiet, shy, pale skin, dark straight long hair an freckles.

PistachioTruffle · 29/06/2013 21:46

My imaginary Odette is pretty, long blonde hair and fair skinned. Quite feminine and girly in style and appearance.

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 29/06/2013 21:46

Long necked, very pale, almost completely white, and powerful yet apparently serene. Has a dark side.

TolliverGroat · 29/06/2013 21:46

Pretty, dark, slender.

SugarandSpice126 · 29/06/2013 21:44

fat, dumpy, and very unlike able! As with every name, at least some people are going to know a horrible person with that name! It's why I hate "simon", "mark", "john", "sophie" - it's hard not to connect them with the people you know!

takeaway2 · 29/06/2013 21:42

Beautiful. She goes to school with
My son and she's v sweet, smart and polite.

austenozzy · 29/06/2013 21:39

I knew an Odette. She's Portuguese, dark hair, petite, pretty - and a very forthright woman! Great laugh, but don't piss her off... :-)

Happiestinwellybobs · 29/06/2013 21:36

French looking, brunette, short hair, angular features, tres chic! But imagine she will be quite insular and hard to get to know.

Marlinspike · 29/06/2013 21:35

Petite, dark, vivacious, stylish ... a hint of the Audrey Hepburn about her.

As a negative she can be capricious and spiteful.

FrancesFarmer · 29/06/2013 21:32

Proustian!

LesAnimaux · 29/06/2013 21:32

I knew an Odette. She had black hair and dark skin. Very Asian looking, but was South African. She slept with my boyfriend (who was cocklodging living in my flat) and when I asked her if she had slept with him, she told me it was none of my business.

I called her Odious Odette after that.

That is the one and only experience of this name...I'm sure there are some lovely Odettes out there. Personally I'd go for Ottilie.

(Did I over answer the question?)
