Need to settle a debate with DH. We have drastically different opinions about this name.

So go for it please & describe your imaginary Odette...

A French spy!

GoodTouchBadTouch · 02/07/2013 16:02

Black. I think there was an Odette in Jackie Brown?

ellesabe · 02/07/2013 15:56

Tall, lanky, blonde and fair-skinned

curlew · 02/07/2013 09:50

Feathers.

MERLYPUSS · 02/07/2013 09:49

I've only ever known one Odette. She was a beautiful black girl with wild hair and fine features. Think super model.

Rhubarbgarden · 01/07/2013 16:27

My MIL. So, middle aged, short blonde hair, frumpy but very smiley.

TenthMuse · 01/07/2013 12:45

French or French heritage. Petite, somewhat timid, mousy demeanour. Shoulder length dark hair with a thick fringe (bit specific, but it's what I imagine!). Bookish.

Biscuitsneeded · 30/06/2013 20:34

Like a 75 year -old French woman. Short, fierce, with wiry/bushy hair. She was probably in the resistance!

Sanjifair · 30/06/2013 20:31

I know an Odette, she is young, slim, pretty with long dark hair.

NigellasGuest · 30/06/2013 20:23

I think Odile is the black swan and Odette is the white swan

shubiedoo · 30/06/2013 14:27

It is a ballet name, from Swan Lake. Ever see Black Swan? I forget if Odette is the white gentle sweet girl, or the evil black swan! Is your surname French? Otherwise it might not "go"; it's very French.

badtime · 30/06/2013 14:23

Makes me think of Odette Hallowes too.

But if it's the French equivalent of Doreen, I wouldn't use it.

BoyMeetsWorld · 30/06/2013 12:50

Haha Burberry, brilliant! Smile

She would have a sensible large handbag and clumpy shoes

Yama · 30/06/2013 12:09

The teen Odette I knew had beautiful long dark slighlty curly hair. She was slim but broad shouldered.

PoppyAmex · 30/06/2013 10:31

I agree.

PistachioTruffle · 30/06/2013 09:15

OP, yes, that's exactly how I'd describe it. It seems no one else agrees though Wink

BoyMeetsWorld · 30/06/2013 07:30

Very interesting! Thanks ladies :)

DH always vetoed this name because he saw it as only suiting someone dark skinned, fat, working class, older.

For me it's a ballet name: someone dainty, beautiful princess-like.

DH is French - so maybe his opinion is coloured by this!

I agree with pixel; "dumpy and frumpy" at least the one I went to school with was.

tigerdriverII · 30/06/2013 02:09

If you watch the WW2 film, she would have no toenails.

Alisvolatpropiis · 30/06/2013 01:24

She could be any skin colour but her hair would be long, she would lean and slender as an adult.

namechangea · 29/06/2013 23:52

Pale, dark, attractive however I do keep hearing that voice in my head say odious sorry.

sleepingbeautiful · 29/06/2013 23:46

Haha Pixel! I just came on to say middle aged and dumpy too. The one I know also has terrible over sprayed hair and isn't the sharpest tool in the box either.

PixelAteMyFace · 29/06/2013 23:04

Middle-aged, dumpy and frumpy, malicious gossip

ZZZenagain · 29/06/2013 22:43

dark, gaunt, bit unhealthy, pasty looking
