How do I choose a name when I hate every name?!

19 weeks pregnant with DC3. I had definite favourite for DD, definite favourite for DS (but didn't get to use it and won't for DC3 either).

Every time I think of a name, 10 mins later I think yuk. And every name anyone suggests I think yuk. Same goes for baby books and the baby names boards (sorry everyone but all names are yuk Wink ).

Tell me I will like a name by the time the baby comes Confused

call it Kid thenGrin

In England you have 6 weeks after baby's born to register birth.
friends could not agree, by the time they were trying to book registrar it was fully booked.
they only registered baby at over 8 weeks old!

so you have plenty of time to figure it out.
I always wanted to choose beforehand, so I see understand why you find your situation frustrating.

it will be ok.

Ah there you go then. It's DH's fault Grin

You will like a name. Honestly. I think I was 25/26 weeks. It was very sudden and I just knew.

TwoTearsInABucket · 27/06/2013 13:01

Ha, yes Roooney, you might be right about the hormones...

Everything DH suggests, and he doesn't suggest much, makes me angry for some reason.

I have thought of that, but my mum hates her name and my nephew is already has the same name as my Dad. There is no way I am naming it after DH's parents Grin

I'll just call it donut. I like that word.

You sound sooo hormonal Grin

I found it impossible to name ds3 till I was about 6 months pregnant, and then it came to me in a flash of lightning.

He's named after a composer whose music I love, and it's an unusual name, a very sweet name, and no one else has got there first so I don't feel like I am treading on anyone's toes.

So don't worry - their name will come to you. Just ignore anyone who says it's ridiculous, it's your baby and you're the one pushing it out (or whatever way it arrives) and so, you get to choose.

Just call her him after your mum or dad, like in the olden days.

TwoTearsInABucket · 27/06/2013 12:39

Ha! That would be great! I feel like it's such a blinkin' responsibility giving someone a name. Gah.

Life would be so much easier, if they came with signs around their necks, saying "hello my name is ........ " wouldn't it?!
