Its a family name (eatern European)

Could I use it? Even as a middle name?
Could Rudy be an acceptable nickname?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm not keen on Rudolf but really dislike Rudy - sounds too much like rude! Unless, of course, you're in a non-English speaking country where Rudy would be fine.

You really cannot call a child Rudolf. It would be nearly as bad as calling him Kermit.

Yes they're both proper names, but a red nosed reindeer and a talking tree frog will own them forever.

Go for Rudy.

NotAnotherPackedLunch · 19/06/2013 14:18

I wouldn't use it.

Rudolf Hess and Rudolf Steiner? Both individuals with horrible racist views.

I know a Rodolphe (French), known as Rod. DS2 has a delightful and much loved reindeer called Rudy....

Rudy's ok, I think? I know someone called that (UK).

SoupDragon · 19/06/2013 14:05

You can't use that as a first name in this country.

nappyaddict · 19/06/2013 14:04

Rudy yes, but would avoid Rudolf.

AnythingNotEverything · 19/06/2013 13:32

I love Rudy. I would avoid Rudolf though. Especially at Christmas.
