Scottish girls name that's a bit feisty?

Hi
I'm due dc4 in 2 weeks, we have 3 boys with good strong Scottish names and have a couple of boys names we like if we have another boy, but are struggling a bit to agree on a girls name (don't know what we are having)
Names we are considering include Morven (dh's favourite but I'm not sure, Elspeth (I like this but ?too girly/ lispy), Isobel/ Ishbel (same issue)

I would appreciate any other suggestions or opinions on those names. We definitely don't want anything frilly, but something with a bit of oomph, so she can compete with her 3 big brothers!

Thanks for your help!

Another vote for Fiona. Although I do know a couple of (adult) Morags who are both good fun but nobody would dare mess with!

NonnoMum · 17/06/2013 22:50

If you like Isobal, how about Isa after my scottish grannie (ize-uh)?

tabulahrasa · 17/06/2013 22:45

Catriona (catreena not catreeohna)
Kirsty
Rowan (to rhyme with cow not mow)
Mairi
Moira

Sorry named!

Wandastartup · 17/06/2013 22:42

I have a very feisty Elspeth Iona! Also another Scottish Amex daughter but don't want to out myself fully!

MacaYoniandCheese · 17/06/2013 22:36

Fiona is good Wink. Strong, sensible, clever but undeniably feminine. Also love Morag, Shona and Ishbel (Tish) too. Will echo other posters who've said that Isla is super-popular. I live in Canada and there are lots of little Islas here too...

Clara

Merida made me smile, but I couldn't name a child after a film!! Definitely along the right lines though

I wouldn't mess with someone called Morag.

Elspeth is unbelievably wet

Thinkingof4 · 17/06/2013 22:28

I really like eilish but ds3 is hamish so def too similar sounding!

Fiona is good, will add to short list. Esme I also love but it doesn't really sound right with our surname unfortunately

I appreciate all the suggestions, I'm sure if we have a girl it will be one of the names on this thread!

Keep 'em coming please

I thought Merida too turnthatfrown

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 17/06/2013 22:25

no Mhairi, it's a bit of a Gaidhlig spelling mistake, that one. Mairi's nice, though. i think i like Elspeth best.

williaminajetfighter · 17/06/2013 22:19

I second Ishbel. Worked with a lovely one.

MoonHare · 17/06/2013 22:18

Esme - pn whichever way you prefer.

TerrysNo2 · 17/06/2013 22:16

I know a gorgeous little girl called Fia, I think it's a pretty strong name and she is a cheeky little 3 year old!

MortifiedAdams · 17/06/2013 22:14

Ooh Fallon is marvelous.

Blair
Greer
Drew

lucidlady · 17/06/2013 22:11

Another vote for Morven.

What about Ishbel? I've heard this a couple of times and think its a lovely name.

lotsofcheese · 17/06/2013 22:07

How about Eilish? Seonaid (pronounced Shona)?

Please don't call her Senga - it's a derogatory term up here!

MsInterpret · 17/06/2013 22:01

Sheena. Definitely.

CityGal29 · 17/06/2013 22:01

I love Kirsty!

SupermanEatsKryptonite · 17/06/2013 21:59

Please not Agnes/Senga or Morag...these are not good imo.
