Having a crisis on boys names.

The names on our list include:
Devon
Harrison
Jensen

Are they ok? do they sound strange? Are they common? I just don't know any more and want to give up :-(

We love them all but I think we have been going round and round too much now. Can you help us?

I like Jensen and Harrison, I'm not keen on Devon, I don't think it's awful though.

If you like that style of name what about, Austin, Orlan, Bennett, Dexter, Grayson, Corbin, Griffin, Emerson, Mason, Parker, Addison, Asher, Cole.....you might not like any of these though!

rockybalboa · 20/06/2013 21:35

I know of a couple of little Jensens. It's quite sweet. Harrison I'm not so keen and anyway it'll just get shortened to Harry. Not keen on Devon at all, sounds like a girls name.

DehydratingManiac · 18/06/2013 11:34

They're not my cup of tea. They're very American surname type names. But you must choose a name you like. Your child will transcend their name anyway. If you're worried about popularity, then Harrison might be worth reconsidering.

I think of Jensen Ackles btw. All the time actually. Not just on hearing his name. Grin

farmersdaughter · 18/06/2013 11:31

I know brothers called Jensen and Harrison. They work well together. Harrison is called Harry. Not so keen on Devon.

For what its worth: Jensen with an 'e' is the car manufacturers, who incidentally Jenson Button was named after. However his father spelt his name incorrectly when he registered at birth, hence Jenson with an 'o'.

johnnycomelurky · 18/06/2013 11:21

I'm with ABirdInTheBush if you love them then use one of them, it really doesn't matter what anyone on here thinks. Every name ever mentioned on this board is hated and derided by someone and equally loved and praised by others (except those starting with a K).

FWIW I grew up with a male Devon-really great name. Jensen is not traditional but familiar due to Jensen Button and Harrison is also nice. I think both Jensen and Harrison are rising in popularity but not overly common.

Choccywoccydodah · 18/06/2013 11:08

We loved Jenson, but as our surname has son at the end it was a no go. Cousin in laws boyfriend called Devon.
Not too keen on Harrison.

tammytoby · 18/06/2013 11:07

I know a little Jenson. He sometimes gets called Jen or Jenny.

Harrison will likely get shortened to Harry - would the popularity of that bother you?

Devon - I like the best. Strong, manly, easy to spell/pronounce and not overused.

Please stop worrying about what other people think, they are all perfectly good names! Life would be boring if we all liked the same things!

This is your child so go for the the name you like.

Ladies, thanks. Might have to change our tact :-(

*Jensen

MoonHare · 17/06/2013 22:47

I know Devon is a boys name but I do think it sounds like it ought to be a girls name.

I know both a little Jensen and a little Harrison. Not really my favourite boys names.

But of the three Harrison is least worst, however it is more popular than Jensen.

FortyFacedFuckers · 17/06/2013 22:46

Love Devon and Harrison not so keen on Jenson

Rtfairy · 17/06/2013 22:40

Think Jensen and Devon are nice, not too keen on Harrison x

ShabbyButNotChic · 17/06/2013 16:48

Love devon! Hate harrison (common), im not keen on jensen, probably because i know one rather erm, interesting character with a toddler called jensen and it immediately makes me think of her!

driftwoodsands · 17/06/2013 16:45

Devon reminds me of Devon Malcolm the West Indian cricketer. I quite like the name, but feel you'd have to have quite a 'big' personality to carry it off! I agree with onesleep on the others... How about Harry?

Littlecherublegs · 17/06/2013 16:39

Only like Harrison.

Like Harris too.

Don't like the others.

bugsybill · 17/06/2013 16:28

I think they are all nice names. They are quite current and popular but not too popular in my opinion.

Harrison will likely be shortened to Harry, would you mind?

Maybe to stop going around in circles try them out with a few different middle names and see how they flow with your last name.

Onesleeptillwembley · 17/06/2013 15:57

Well you asked - they're awful.
Devon - silly side of hippy
Harrison - overused, especially in certain quarters, common
Jensen - ????? Just, why?

lowercase · 17/06/2013 15:55

Ok, it means son of Jens, it's Scandinavian.
Any roots there?

lowercase · 17/06/2013 15:54

Sound like last names to me.

For a boy I would be less whimsical.

Desmond
Harold / Harry

Is Jensen even a name?

Elquota · 17/06/2013 15:54

I like Harrison, not sure about Devon (place) or Jensen (everyone will say "button").

themonsteratemyspacebar · 17/06/2013 15:53

I like Jensen the best out of the 3.
Devon seems like more of a girls name to me and Harrison just seems too long or a surname.

Haven't heard of any children called any of the names though!

Nospringflower · 17/06/2013 15:50

Like them all Smile
