Thoughts on Susie?

I know 3 lovely Susies, both down to earth but terribly nice and wholesome. This makes me love the name and it's top of our list.
But is it a bit old fashioned, like a Sandra or a Jean?

Excellent name.

nooka · 16/06/2013 05:39

I like Susie, but only as a nn for Susannah/Suzanne, not as a stand alone name. It is a little old fashioned, but old fashioned names are fashionable, so I'd not see that as a problem.

StyleManual · 15/06/2013 21:37

Sorry, that sounds a bit ranty doesn't it! It's a bit of a bugbear of mine. Susanna is a lovely name btw, just not on our list!

We won't go down the "Sunday best" name route. I have a Sunday best name and to be honest it's a bloody pain asking people to use my shortened name when they use it after seeing it on a register/job application/medical notes etc. I have never used my proper name and neither have my family. I just don't see the point of having it.

Susie is a great name.

prolificnamechanger · 15/06/2013 18:07

My sis is Susannah on her birth cert but is known by everyone, including at work, as Susie. Love it.

OutragedFromLeeds · 15/06/2013 17:31

I really like it, though I'd have Susannah on the bc so she has some more choices as she gets older.

Love Julia too. I also really like Jennifer.

Loving all the 70's names at the moment.

CPtart · 15/06/2013 17:29

Have always liked it. Never had a DD so the hamster got it instead!

cece · 15/06/2013 17:26

I think Suzie works well for girls and Susannah also good when more grown up.

TheMagicKeyCanFuckOff · 15/06/2013 17:20

I have a Susie Smile It's short for Susannah.

TheYamiOfYawn · 15/06/2013 09:12

I like it as a nickname, but would go with a longer official name.

monkeyfacegrace · 15/06/2013 09:09

Suzannah is on the list if I have another DD.

Its the only name me and DH can agree on.

If they dont like it, they can be Suzie, Sanna, Anna etc.

aftermay · 15/06/2013 09:06

I like Suzie and Julia.

Not ready for Maggie yet (because of Thatcher, I'm sure others will have different reasons).

hokeycakey · 15/06/2013 08:53

I'm an early eighties suzie shortened from Susanna no one ever calls me my full name I do like suzie the most as a shortened version but other people call me Sanna or Suze I think it's very nice & poss underused at the moment

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 15/06/2013 08:44

I'm not massively keen on it as a name on its own.
Love Susannah though, why am I not called that?!

BlueChampagne · 14/06/2013 22:51

I think it's great but would go with a longer version on birth certificate personally, even if you never use it.

mosuzu · 14/06/2013 21:42

It is a bit old fashioned (late 70's/early 80's) but I think could be dragged into the cool if you spelt it Siouxie.

AtWhatPointIsItWrong · 14/06/2013 15:31

Love Maggie too!

AtWhatPointIsItWrong · 14/06/2013 15:29

I really like it. Suzanne is not ready to come back yet. I prefer Susie /Susan to Suzy/Suzanne.

Juliet is a lovely name too.

Justfornowitwilldo · 14/06/2013 15:05

I much prefer your second choice if you're not going to put a longer version of Suzie on the birth certificate.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 14/06/2013 15:00

Lovely

StyleManual · 14/06/2013 14:59

Ooh, positive feedback. Thank you! I think baby would just be a Susie, rather than a Susanne or Susanna, as DH is not keen on those.

Our second choice is Juliet/Julia BTW.

baby Susie

GingerCurry · 14/06/2013 14:48

I really like susie or suzie.
I think I prefer Suzie better having written them down.

Suzieismyname · 14/06/2013 14:39

Love love love it...
