Love it! It can be shortened to Zib which is the best name everGrin

BestIsWest · 10/06/2013 19:27

We have an Epsibeth in our family tree which I think is lovely.

aoife24 · 10/06/2013 19:15

I love it too, it has some real oomph to it: go for it.

NorbertDentressangle · 09/06/2013 11:04

Ever since I read Carries War as a child I've always loved the sound of the name.

I think I really like it but, at the same time, there's a small part of me that thinks it might be a bit of a bonkers name.

bootsycollins · 09/06/2013 11:00

Never heard it before, it's groovy, makes me want to sing.

MarianaTrench · 09/06/2013 10:53

I named DD1's favourite doll Hepzibah, Eppie, for short. It's lovely!

changechangechange · 09/06/2013 07:23

I love love love Eppie (Silas Marner) but tbh have always thought that if I used it, that would be her actual name, not Hepzibah.

I am aware that MN frowns on doing such a thing, though!

Clary · 08/06/2013 21:27

LOL this is what I tell the kids at school my first name is (it starts with an H but it's a lot more common than Hepzibah!)

They don't believe me Grin. I think it's a bit out there as a name, unless you are going to shorten it at once and always.

LeGavrOrf · 08/06/2013 19:06

Celestia those are lovely names, especially Berengaria and Ghislaine (well, in my opinion obviously Grin

LeGavrOrf · 08/06/2013 19:03

I think it is absolutely lovely. It is unusual but not ridiculous. My daughter went to school with a Hepzibah (Eppy). It is also the character in one of my favourite books, Silas Marner, which is a lovey story.

Bathsheba is also a tremendously grand name isn't it.

I would go for it OP.

Allalonenow · 08/06/2013 18:49

I love it, I also like Bathsheba.

eatyourveg · 08/06/2013 18:42

Zizi just reminds me of the pizza chain. Loved Carrie's war and think Hepzibah is a wonderful name.

snooter · 08/06/2013 18:33

Hepzibah was the aunt in a book I read as a child called Carrie's War, I think.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 08/06/2013 18:28

Poor child.

celestialsquirrels · 08/06/2013 18:18

I knew a hepzibah. Everyone called her hep or Heppy. I thought it sounded like hepatitis.
I'm afraid it is on my list of top 5 ugliest names to give your daughter, together with Ghislaine, Tegwyn, Dolores and Berengaria.

Secondme · 08/06/2013 18:13

Was there one in the Roman Mysteries? Because I didn't like her.
But I like the name. Grin Wouldn't go with our name choices though.

FattyPigston · 08/06/2013 18:09

I love it! I've known a couple of people with Hepzibah as a middle name - normally evangelical christians as it is quite an obscure biblical name

GW297 · 08/06/2013 18:04

Don't do it!

VashtaNerada · 08/06/2013 10:49

Love it (with Eppie as a nn) for Silas Marner reasons too!

lljkk · 08/06/2013 10:32

I know of one, now about 45 yo, nothing hippy dippy or unpleasant about her AFAIK. Called Eps or Epsy for short, I think. Bet it's all the same lady we're talking about, lol.

2children2cats · 08/06/2013 10:16

Zizi is willy in French so be prepared for some giggles if u ever end up living there!

Theas18 · 08/06/2013 08:24

love it!

BlueStarsAtNight · 08/06/2013 08:20

I'm not keen, sorry. I have only heard of it from Harry Potter and as someone said earlier she wasn't a nice character so no positive connotations!

Salbertina · 08/06/2013 06:53

Go for it Smile

Mumblyboo · 07/06/2013 23:33

Wow kinda shocked at the positivity! I was bracing myself got a flaming! I like Zizi as nickname xp
