Am I going crazy?
Is it too stuffy to be granny chic?

Opinions please :)

Really dislike!

3monkeys · 07/06/2013 20:56

I would say awful. But, I work with the loveliest lady who is about to retire, who is called Enid and she is the calmest, kindest person :)

exoticfruits · 07/06/2013 20:53

You can't know, as a baby, whether she is going to be confident and popular enough to carry it off- it could be very difficult for a shy, unconfident DC. Edith is much better.

LanternGirl · 07/06/2013 20:44

If she is tall, thin, glamerous and cool Enid could be fabulous. If she's not, its too close to old lady frump. Being more frump than supermodel myself, I'd hate it. Edith is a lovely, pretty alternative, or Evelyn at a push.

Penny6Pence · 07/06/2013 19:55

I think it really cute! Like it a lot.

RainSunWind · 07/06/2013 19:46

You are going crazy Grin

There is nothing remotely redeeming about the name Enid.

It looks harsh, it sounds harsh.

It has no amazing connections. Enid Blyton does not count as she is widely known as Eneeblyton IYSWIM. Smile Not, Enid.

Please for the sake of your future DD don't do this to her {wrings hands dramatically}

(She will thank me and the other dissenters here one day if you show her this thread)

If you must do granny chic please choose Edith.

That is all.

fussychica · 07/06/2013 19:29

Hate it, sorry - Edith is nicer but still not one of my top names.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 07/06/2013 18:29

No, just no.

Edie is nice.

squoosh · 07/06/2013 16:57

I met a gorgeous 20 something Enid this week.

But I just couldn't reconcile the pretty girl with the ugly name.

Turniptwirl · 07/06/2013 14:27

No no no! Ethel and Edith are slightly better

Just can't imagine a baby or teenage Enid!

Ham69 · 07/06/2013 12:48

There are plenty of worse names, and I'm a fan of granny chic, but not sure I'm too keen on it.
Although Enid Blyton was an amazing author, she was by all accounts a very emotionally unstable woman and not the most maternal of mothers. That would also put me off.

fanjodisfunction · 07/06/2013 11:51

I quite like it, it has a certain hib, chic feel that Gladys, Doris and the like are missing.

TheRealFellatio · 07/06/2013 11:27

Enid is heinous. Edith, however, is lovely.

Enid belongs with Gladys, Doris, Edna, Hilda and Gertrude. They should NEVER be revived.

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 07/06/2013 11:23

I love the meaning of it (life spirit), and it was DH's beloved Nan's name, but even so it's not on our list for forthcoming DD.

Clawdy · 06/06/2013 22:58

No no...

chimchar · 06/06/2013 20:08

I love it!

Mintyy · 06/06/2013 20:08

No.

Edith (Edie) is ok.

IslaValargeone · 06/06/2013 20:07

It's not a pleasant sounding sounding name.

EnidClowes · 06/06/2013 20:07

Quite like it ;) although Edith nicer I think

Selba · 06/06/2013 20:01

fab, chic name. DO it!

squalorvictoria · 06/06/2013 20:01

Oh yes, Edie is lovely.

snuffaluffagus · 06/06/2013 20:01

Prefer Edith myself but I don't hate it!

I know a baby Enid. Not my fave name but baby is adorable and like any baby I'm sure she'll suit her name as she gets older.
