Picked the name Lydia as I was reading pride and prejudice and fell in love with it, mil name is rose so partner picked that, so it's Lydia rose. Have recently found out that is the name of a pillock on the only way is Essex and I DESPISE that program with a passion, was any one else reminded of her? If more people don't then that's my lo's name!

Lovely name.. makes me think of "Love for Lydia".

bdbfan · 05/06/2013 19:26

My dd is Lydia, it's a beautiful name, and I don't watch towie.

Smartiepants79 · 05/06/2013 19:14

It's a beautiful name. Keep it.

pintofmilk · 05/06/2013 17:41

It's a lovely classic name.

Never seen or want to see TOWIE!

Needles- Summer of 2012 Needles. Everyone went onto FB, I don't have it. Any plans to reunite on Mumsnet?

Sorry to barge in on the thread! Blush

NeedlesCuties · 05/06/2013 17:22

My DD is Lydia.

Have had several ppl mishear when I tell them her name and they think it's Olivia Hmm Could be my accent, or more likely because Olivia is much more popular here.

It's a lovely name, and I've never seen TOWIE!

soontobeslendergirl · 04/06/2013 20:56

Ah - I don't really watch tv so probably mean nothing to me - no idea what happened to Craig David. I have a Craig and we nearly had David as a middle name....but changed our mind :)

invicta · 04/06/2013 15:51

The person was on pop stars / pop idol / X factor. Can't remember the version he was on. What ever happened to Craig Davies?

soontobeslendergirl · 03/06/2013 10:54

invicta, it wasn't Craig David was it?

I think Lydia is lovely - no-one will really ever know her middle name and there are loads of people (me included) who've never seen TOWIE.

.......as long as your surname isn't Teapot you'll be fine :)

Thisisanoutrage · 03/06/2013 09:40

My 6 month old DD is Lydia. I have met three more babies with the same name since I had her. I wondered why, as I hadn't heard it much before. It must be TOWIE.

I still love it though.

anastasiakrupnik · 03/06/2013 09:37

Like StickPin said, Lydia left Towie a while ago. Also she was a lovely girl with the self-respect to dump her cheating bf. She had great vintage clothes too, very non-typical Towie, OH always said how much class she had (Towie on series-record Grin)

invicta · 03/06/2013 08:57

I thought it was lovely and I never made a TOWIE connection either.

Our second son has a name of an emerging pop star at the time of his birth. No one has linked his name to the star, who although isn't as big 11 years later,is still around.

sleepingbeautiful · 03/06/2013 08:52

Annoying! Definitely a don't tell what you've picked til the baby's here name then! I bet they won't do it then. It'll be all ohhh isn't little Lydia SO adorable :)

joanna0211marie · 03/06/2013 08:47

Sleepingbeautiful, my mum does the same!

sleepingbeautiful · 03/06/2013 08:36

Don't worry about that program, passing fad. I love the name (and also think Lydia Bennett) but my Dad said Lydia Jar / Lydia Teapot every time I mentioned it until I took it off the list :/

Ham69 · 03/06/2013 08:11

Never heard of Lydia Rose and I watch a fair amount of crap tv (though not TOWIE). I think if it were 2 unusual names together it may make more of a connection to people but, as Rose is a fairly popular (but lovely) middle name, no one will think you've named DD after her. Really pretty name by the way.

Weegiemum · 03/06/2013 00:52

Lovely name.

As I don't even pay attention to the ads for towie I've never heard about that connection.

SavoyCabbage · 03/06/2013 00:47

I've never heard of the towie one.

I didn't call my dd a name I had chosen as a celebrity used is six weeks before my due date. I've regretted t ever since. Nobody would remember her dds name now, six years later.

Lydia Rose is lovely!

ShadowStorm · 01/06/2013 19:53

I've never seen TOWIE, so no connection there.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/06/2013 19:51

Lydia is nice. It's classic and pretty, and Austen's Lydia is hilarious (and a trollop!). I know nothing about TOWIE.

I've never seen TOWIE so my first thought was that it was a really pretty name. Go for it!

driftwoodsands · 01/06/2013 19:06

Lydia is a delightful name. Ignore TOWIE and go for it!
