Norman. Awful name.

fussychica · 03/06/2013 00:18

No, just no! Norman here too - bloody awful.

miffybun73 · 31/05/2013 20:28

The only thing that I think of (and it's a fairly awful visual image) is Norman Lamont :(

monica77798 · 31/05/2013 11:27

I am with PelvicFloorClenchReminder, this would just remind me of Norman Lamont and recessions.

notso · 31/05/2013 09:53

Not my brew but I'm not keen on surname names.

Moominsarehippos · 31/05/2013 09:45

Sunny - are you really young then? God I'm showing my age!

Old Norm used to live near us I think. Or maybe it was the other 'un...

LittleMissLucy · 31/05/2013 01:22

I only know it as a last name.

joanofarchitrave · 31/05/2013 01:14

Norman Lamont, sorry. Though that may be more my age (I'm over 40).

Sunnysummer · 31/05/2013 01:02

I don't know Norman Lamont... But to me it does sound like the hero of a paperback romance novel (not necessarily a bad thing, I suppose)

PlentyOfFreeTime · 30/05/2013 23:24

No - the slug was Kenneth Baker.

SingleBelle · 30/05/2013 22:11

wasn't he also a slug on spitting image Confused

SingleBelle · 30/05/2013 22:10

Norman Lamont's massive eyebrows on Spitting Image!! Grin sorry!

YDdraigGoch · 30/05/2013 21:18

It's a dreadful name - sorry. And it's not a first name, its a surname.

TheresTheDoor · 30/05/2013 21:17

It sounds massively try hard. Sorry.

Hellonewworld · 30/05/2013 21:12

I quite like it. It's a bit unusual and quirky but not too outrageous, I'm not sure about the association with Norman Lamont though Confused

itsunconditionallove · 30/05/2013 20:54

It is popular in Jamaica were DH grew up, glad i asked for your opinions now i will probably have to rethink again.

MrsBungle · 30/05/2013 20:54

Yes it's pronounced like Lam nnt in Scotland.

MrsBungle · 30/05/2013 20:53

Yes in England it seems to be LA MONT rather than Lament. I have never heard of it as a first name in Scotland or England.

SwishSwoshSwoosh · 30/05/2013 20:53

Hahaha, I thought this was a thread about Norman Lamont and wondered why on earth he was being discussed!

AKissIsNotAContract · 30/05/2013 20:50

I've never heard of it. First thought was Norman.

Moominsarehippos · 30/05/2013 20:49

How would we pronounce is in scotland? I've never heard of it as a first name.
