My dh and I love the name Arlo. I know it is on the up but do you think it will eventually make the top 100?

I have an Arlo, named after Arlo Guthries. So annoyed its getting more popular, mine is 6 now and I knew of no other Arlo's when we chose it. I saw an Arlo in the shoe shop the other day, younger than mine though and obviously didn't suit the name as much as mine does WinkGrin

Btw I pretty much always have positive bushings about it being a lovely name

3boysgirlontheway · 04/06/2013 07:56

Oh and they are all under 2.

3boysgirlontheway · 04/06/2013 07:56

I know 3, they are all in Dublin.

squoosh · 03/06/2013 16:51

What about Ivo, similar style but much less popular.

I prefer it.

thefuturesnotourstosee · 03/06/2013 16:14

There are 2 Arlo's at our local play group. That said we live no where near Harlow Grin

sleepingbeautiful · 03/06/2013 08:55

Don't think so. People won't use it in many areas because it sounds like Harlow with the H dropped in a lot of accents.

Elquota · 02/06/2013 22:20

I think it's already become as faddy as it's going to get and will start to decline again.

KrazyKurls · 02/06/2013 21:36

DC3 was supposed to be Arlo but was a girl instead so we called her Poppy!

littlemisstax · 02/06/2013 21:34

I know two Arlos, an Alia and an Arlia. All in 10 miles of each other, and all under 4. None of them have fet another with the same name as far as I know.

SingleBelle · 30/05/2013 19:41

What about Arnaud instead. I think Arlo sounds a bit 2011

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 30/05/2013 10:44

I have one,we adore his name,it was pretty unheard of when I named him, only knew of one or two from MN and none in RL.
I have heard of a couple of babys called Arlo now though,it is on the rise but I hope it doesn't make the top 100....and I don't think it will.

Exhaustipated · 29/05/2013 21:30

I have met a couple. It does seem to be gaining on popularity although I'm afraid I'm another person who just thinks Harlow without the H.

Sanjifair · 28/05/2013 22:39

Another one who doesn't live that far from Harlow. Arlo would be a big no no round here!

PickleSarnie · 28/05/2013 20:57

Quite possibly if it keeps following this pattern names.darkgreener.com/#arlo

LynetteScavo · 28/05/2013 20:39

Yes, I do think it will make the top 100.

All names I really like shoot up in popularity.

DeffoBossLa · 28/05/2013 20:32

I know two, both age 8. I don't see the problem with a name being in the top 100 though.
My ds's name is in the top 100 but I only know 2 others with the same name.

lovemybabyboy · 28/05/2013 20:25

I really like the name, wanted it for DS2 but DH said no! :( I have not met anyone with the name though.

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 28/05/2013 20:16

Thanks for the comments so far! Those of you who have an Arlo what kind of reactions do you get to the name?

My ds4 is rudi arlo, we chose it after arlo Guthrie. I know of two arlos, one from mnet.

I don't think it will get really popular.

riskit4abiskit · 28/05/2013 16:21

my friend has one and we are in deepest darkest northern grimness!

Justfornowitwilldo · 28/05/2013 15:23

It has the potential to do that, but that could take 3 years or 13 years.

StickPin · 28/05/2013 13:03

I have one. We picked it out of a baby name book and am surprised it is becoming popular. I think it's probably because I'm so cool.

Never met another Arlo but we are up north. Apparently it is popular in Bristol!!

TenthMuse · 28/05/2013 13:03

In certain quarters I think it is getting popular, but perhaps not more generally. Seems to be quite a 'hipster' name - all the Arlos I've met seem to have parents who are photographers/art directors/TV producers and live in trendy parts of London or Brooklyn! So maybe it's a localised thing.

Personally I'm put off it by the fact that I live dangerously near to Harlow and it would constantly get confused with the town!

Anjou · 28/05/2013 11:34

I came on here 6 months ago looking for inspiration for a name for DS2 & somebody suggested Arlo. I consider myself well read, well travelled, pretty cosmopolitan and I live in a large city but I've never met one. If its so popular, where are they all?!!!

I like how it looks & sounds but I can understand the Harlow association, particularly if you live in the south east of England.
