Edith or Beth?

Was here recently asking between Edith and Sylvie but Dh having a change of heart.
We love both but Ds has a hugely popular, one syllable name and I worry that alongside 'Beth'..... Both being one syllable, it might sound a bit dull Confused
I know I'm over thinking but opinions welcome. TIA Smile

Beth was our girl's name but we had boys . I love Beth .

SauceForTheGander · 30/05/2013 16:37

Edith is lovely!

fussychica · 30/05/2013 16:33

I was going to say Beth every time but I remembered I once knew a very cool young lady called Edith. Still think Beth is prettier.

mathanxiety · 30/05/2013 04:47

Beth sounds prim. Edith is lovely, and international.

PiratePanda · 29/05/2013 22:19

I only know two Beths and they are both in their 30s. But Edith is a beautiful name too.

mummybare · 29/05/2013 22:16

Damn your DH! Sylvie is lovely and Meredith is gorgeous!

I like Edith and I love Elizabeth, but I'm not sold on Beth as a stand-alone name.

BlueBowTie · 29/05/2013 21:33

Definitely Edith!

NowPlayingZone · 29/05/2013 19:31

oooh now i love meredith

AuntPittypat · 28/05/2013 22:44

Love both, but Edith just edges in front for me.

ghosteditor · 28/05/2013 22:42

Meredith?

PrincessOfChina · 28/05/2013 22:24

I can't call between them. Largely because Beth is my MN and Edith is DD's.

They're both lovely and classic.

Jojay · 28/05/2013 22:24

I know more little Edith's that I do Beth's.

Beth is prettier sounding. Edith doesn't flow very well, it sounds a bit clunky.

NotSpartacus · 28/05/2013 22:23

Edith.

ghosteditor · 28/05/2013 22:22

Love Edith, 'twas on the shortlist for DD

thegreylady · 28/05/2013 22:21

everlong thanks but I like all the names you listed so we clearly have very different taste Grin

I don't think this baby will be born a pensioner and really like most older names like Henry, George, Martha, Lily etc so am not too concerned about the age of a name.

Really appreciate all feedback though so Flowers

(Sylvie is better than both though!)

MadBusLady · 28/05/2013 20:28

Of those two Edith, but I'd like Beth if it were short for Elizabeth or Bethany. I've never heard of a Beth in the Bible fuffle?

MephistophelesSister · 28/05/2013 20:18

Edith is lovely, and well overdue a comeback. Smile

Beth.

Edith is awful

Turniptwirl · 28/05/2013 19:28

Beth unless you're giving birth to a seventy year old
