Which MN combo for a girl?

Gugglebum · 27/05/2013 04:28

We have around 11 weeks left, don't know the gender, boy's name is sorted, girl's first is as well. We can't agree on the middle name combination. First name 2 syllables, surname 1 syllable, and middles are down to:
Arabella Jane
Winter Jane

Without the distraction of how anyone feels about our chosen first name, which middles do you prefer, and why? One is DH's favourite, one is mine. TIA!

Sorry, but you asked which people preferred and why.

I'm just saying what most people will be thinking when you announce the name. No one will know the back story

Just flip a coin if you can't decide.

Each of our favourites have particular meaning to us, so I imagine we'll land on one of them eventually. Or we'll have a boy and it will be moot. I love hearing images names conjure up for people, like Winter being negative to you, amazingmum. It's the exact opposite for us. And you've managed to express it without being rude! Thanks for your comment Hooley, as well. Smile

just ignore the dumb comments - why people feel the need to be rude is beyond me.

I was wondering about the "winter" for a summer baby, but actually that doesn't matter so much.

I think I wouldn't choose it, because it sound a bit negative - like Storm or Bruiser would.

how about making up a new name from the two?

Do you like "Winterella"? sounds like Cinderella, but it's not so harsh as "Winter".

Incredibly sweet comment, Zen. Meanings of names can reach beyond the obvious, as 'stupid' as that may seem to you. And amazingmum, that's more what I wanted anyway, just which you prefer on first glance, so thank-you. DH and I are quite different too, thus the difference in names! It's a miracle we've agreed on the names we have so far. Grin

Arabella is nicer

ZenGardener · 27/05/2013 04:37

Arabella as Winter is a stupid name for a summer-born child.

amazingmumof6 · 27/05/2013 04:35

need to know first name, sorry.

Arabella and Winter are so totally different, can't possibly choose without context!

although I have to say I'm not a fan of Winter, sorry.
