We really love Ava for our little girl, but are afraid it is too popular... so are now thinking Avalon.

What do you think of Avalon?....

If you're going to call her Ava anyway......

( I don't knew a single Ava, by the way, and I know loads of babies and young children!)

Savalon in the uk is an antiseptic cream

CrimsonRed · 26/05/2013 08:19

I'm not from the UK, so have no idea what savalon is. And have a minimal knowledge of Glastonbury (other than the fact it's a music festival). Don't know who Brian Ferry is... had to google it.

To me, the name is relate to Kind Arthur. There is also an area in the country where I live with this name.

And I wouldn't pronounce it as Ayva-lon. I like the nick name Avie.

Ah well, I still like it. Probably shouldn't have asked about it!

Nope like savalon

EleanorFarjeon · 26/05/2013 07:33

Nooo!

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 26/05/2013 07:21

It doesn't really sound like Ava, unless you are going to pronounce it Ayvalon, which sounds a bit odd.

KittieCat · 26/05/2013 07:20

I like the nn Avie

singaporeswing · 26/05/2013 07:18

I went to university with a girl called Avalon. Her parents were quite hippy-like, obsessed with Glastonbury and healing crystals, whereas she was the most straight-laced person I ever met.

We knew her as Avie, she was quite embarrassed by her full name. I think it's pretty but does sound quite toiletries related.

VBisme · 26/05/2013 07:12

I really like it, not sure why people would think it sounded like a tampon brand Sad the only brands I know are tampex and lillet. (And that doesn't stop people using lily as a name anyway).

KittieCat · 26/05/2013 07:10

It's a TV production company...

Caladria · 26/05/2013 07:07

Ok for a budgie.

Jemma1111 · 26/05/2013 07:06

It reminds me of savalon the ointment

TobyLerone · 26/05/2013 06:53

I'm assuming you'd shorten it to Ava anyway, so what's the point?

It does sound like a tampon brand though. Really.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/05/2013 06:50

Dreadful. Reminds me of the song and of Glastonbury etc. Layl is right, it does have the ring of feminine hygiene about it.

Dexidoo · 26/05/2013 06:35

I like it but then I like Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music Smile

CrimsonRed · 26/05/2013 06:34

Geez Layl77, that's a bit harsh! You could've skipped the tampon thing.

No, it sounds like a thing not a name. Tampon or something. How about Ada? Avril?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 26/05/2013 06:17

I just thought of Avon I'm afraid. ..
