Which would you choose?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Lucie, you like it, it's pretty, why not.

And how can it be new-fangled or 'just wrong' for goodness sake, when it appears in Beatrix Potter and Dickens (Tale of Two Cities)??

Lucee, however, would be a different matter.

Lucie. I know a fabulous 20-something Lucie and it's not an issue. People have an extraordinary ability to misspell any old name, so I wouldn't think it's an issue.

Go with what you love - especially in this case when it's a common variant.

SixPackWellies · 26/05/2013 16:29

Go with Lucie. You love it. It is an accepted name. You have a history of an attachment to it.

It's your DD!'.

Plus, it is pretty.

Go for it, I say.

FingersCrossedLegsNot · 26/05/2013 16:25

Lucy....anything else is just wrong!

diamondsneezer · 26/05/2013 14:25

Use what you like.

There are a lot of alternative spellings for names - Sara/Sarah, Jon/John, Lizzy/Lizzie, Freddy/Freddie and for my poor friend Victoria - Vicky, Vikki, Vicki.

There aren't that many that are safe to be honest. So if it looks right to you, it is right.

toffeelolly · 26/05/2013 14:21

Lucie for me, look,s betterWink

cate16 · 26/05/2013 14:06

TBH working with children, when told the said name - currently Lucie is the first spelling option for me.

nickrhodesjewel · 26/05/2013 13:59

Lucy

jellybeans · 26/05/2013 13:56

Lucy

KittenofDoom · 26/05/2013 13:51

Lucy, definitely. I find something horribly twee about -ie endings to most names.

PistachioTruffle · 26/05/2013 09:59

I also think Lucie is a prettier spelling, and I say this as a person who has spent her entire life spelling my name out to all and sundry!
If you love the Lucie spelling, go for it.

amandine07 · 26/05/2013 09:37

I think Lucie is prettier than just Lucy

amandine07 · 26/05/2013 09:36

I do like Lucie- that is the French spelling and not simply a mis-spelling or someone trying to add a modern twist Hmm

However, to make life easier, a Lucy would make sense if you're in the UK.
Although I personally prefer Lucie!

lovesmileandlaugh · 26/05/2013 08:00

Go with Lucie. It will probably get spelt wrong from time to time, but I suspect so do most other names.
It is very pretty!

OrangeFootedScrubfowl · 26/05/2013 07:03

Lucy.

Tinkerisdead · 26/05/2013 06:54

I have a Lucie. She too was inspired by Mrs Tiggywinkle.

Although my mum was horrified that she'll never get an xmas bauble from the garden centre with her name on. Even better i thought Grin

TobyLerone · 26/05/2013 06:50

Lucie. It's prettier.

My sis is Lucie and she has never minded spelling it for people.

Chippychop · 26/05/2013 06:49

What Amy said. Haven't heard the word Twerp in ages made me smileGrin

Amy106 · 26/05/2013 06:41

Lucy so she does not spend her life explaining how to spell her name.

Layl77 · 26/05/2013 06:33

This is one alternative spelling name that I actually like. Lucie does look pretty. Use it! It's not like Jayme or Kaytee

JazzAnnNonMouse · 26/05/2013 04:18

Lucie looks so much prettier IMO.

I would assume it was spelled the more common 'Lucy' though until told otherwise.

squoosh · 25/05/2013 23:14

Lucie reminds me of Lucie Mabel Atwell.

Alisvolatpropiis · 25/05/2013 23:09

Lucy.

I see ie ending names as being very nicknamey. Even when they actually aren't, Sophie for example. I suppose it must just be something I don't like aesthetically speaking.

mummsy2be · 25/05/2013 23:00
