Zoë...? Too dated?

Opinions would be great.

I told my aunt and she likes it, but thinks it is a very ''early nineties'' name...?

And what middle names (2 or three syllable to go with surname Grey)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm a Zoe (with the diereses, but I don't know how to do it on here!) Really happy with my name now, after a wobbly phase at primary school when I randomly wanted to be called something like Crystal or Stephanie (think I'd been exposed to too many American soaps!)

I was born in the eighties, and there was one other Zoe in my secondary school class of about 200. I now teach, and have come across the odd Zoe in the schools I've worked in, although it's definitely not common. Don't think it would be seen as dated, as it crops up regularly enough to still be current.

Zoe Grey sounds lovely, by the way.

luckynumber9 · 23/05/2013 10:08

I like it and would go for Zoe Francesca.

LilacBreastedRoller · 23/05/2013 10:03

I love it and I don't think it has a strong date association. There's a beautiful mosaic of the Empress Zoe in the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. I would definitely be keen to use it for a girl.

seeker · 23/05/2013 10:01

Zoe Grey is a fantastic name! You could be anything as a Zoe Grey!

titchy · 23/05/2013 09:56

It's a diereses not an umlaut - umlaut's tend to be German!

OrlaKiely · 23/05/2013 09:42

It goes with the surname, but I don't like it as a name, particularly. Not sure why.

I'm interested to know how people do the umlaut on top of the e though!

cantbloodywellchoose · 23/05/2013 09:31

No, not dated at all. Gorgeous name!

JojoMags · 23/05/2013 08:53

I love it. I think it sounds classic but also fresh iyswim? I wouldn't associate with any decade.

lollypopsicle · 23/05/2013 08:46

It's on our list for this baby as a possibility so obviously I like it! I also met a baby Zoe the other day.

JumpingJackSprat · 23/05/2013 07:30

There you go OP i think you may have the first unanimous baby names thread!

Theironfistofarkus · 23/05/2013 07:08

Like it too. Pretty name

OrangeFootedScrubfowl · 23/05/2013 07:06

I like it, I don't think it belongs too much to any time.

SwishSwoshSwoosh · 23/05/2013 07:06

I think Zoe is a truly lovely name.

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong · 23/05/2013 07:04

I think it's lovely. And very underused.

Not dated, because to become dated, it had to be uber popular (Karen, Louise, Emily, Ava, Finlay, Joshua etc) and Zoe I don't think ever was.

It's great!

justhayley · 22/05/2013 22:38

I love it, went to school with a Zoe Elizabeth - now 29.
I think it's a name that could be considered a classic it's timeless, not fashionable not old lady just well classic

Southeastdweller · 22/05/2013 22:33

Love it. Almost classic status and not common.

GreyTS · 22/05/2013 22:32

Not dated I hope, I have a 2 year old Zoë, only know one other around here (Ireland). My Zoë's middle name is Eleanor

dozily · 22/05/2013 22:29

I like it too, and know a 5-year-old Zoe Smile

BikeRunSki · 22/05/2013 22:27

I think of it very much as a name of the mid 70s, as y sister was one of 8 Zoes in her year at school. I've met two baby Zoes recently and really liked it- as someone said, lovely change from Evie/Grace/Niamh/Amelia. My sister has 2 x 3 syllable middle names, but I am not going to out myself by telling you them!

OrangeFireandGoldashes · 22/05/2013 22:24

I used to work with a Zoë Grey!

Pretty name and I don't think it's from any one particular time period.

cookielove · 22/05/2013 22:21

Sorry meant to say we i think it is adorable Smile

LousThighBurn · 22/05/2013 22:19

I love it, there was a baby Zoë on the ward when DS was born 2 years ago. I think it ages well.

I like Eden or Alice as middle names, but Alice would mean her initials would spell ZAG? Unless you added another name in there too? Not sure if that would bother you but I notice things like that.

cookielove · 22/05/2013 22:18

My friend has a 4 year old (cannot believe she is that age already) who we all call ZoZo

pinkpudding · 22/05/2013 22:15

I love it too. My friend's 2year old is a Zoe.
