Middle class, working class, old lady, young person, neither here nor there? Have always liked the name Dilys.

Dilys is definitely a woman with curlers, a headscarf (and probably a fag). But then so was Lily until a little while ago and that has enjoyed a resurgence. Be a trendsetter.

I really love it!

Cerys is also very pretty without any of the old lady connotations.

SurreyWithAFringeOnTop · 15/05/2013 08:44

Old lady, but I think it is lovely - very delicate and pretty sounding.

Due a comeback I think

ClaraOswald · 14/05/2013 23:55

Old lady.

More gertrude and agatha than Pearl and Ivy

That hideous brat in Fireman Sam's mother. Although it is actually quite a pretty name. But then I am not welsh and do not live in Wales...

AuntieBrenda · 14/05/2013 20:31

Old lady deffo

mejon · 14/05/2013 20:29

Another Welsh speaker - definitely old lady and not in a good way. I think Olwen is another one.

Pouncer1 · 14/05/2013 20:23

Another welshie here and a 100% no to the name Dilys! I really can't imagine a baby with that name!

MrsHiddleston · 14/05/2013 20:09

Old lady and not in a cool way.

cadidog · 14/05/2013 20:06

Welsh speaker here and Dilys is an old lady name but given the trend for old fashioned names I don't think that's the end of the world.

SmellsLikeWeenSpirits · 14/05/2013 20:02

Old lady in a headscarf who runs the corner shop

Who's that Hollywood type who's called their daughter Bryn? Shock

Bryn is Dilys's husband

lolalotta · 14/05/2013 19:48

Old lady!

Alisvolatpropiis · 14/05/2013 19:21

Well, I'm English, of Welsh stock if that helps ? Grin

All Dilys's I know are older ladies. By looking at the names given to children over the last few years though, that probably means it's about due for a revival. I do think it's a pretty name. Smile

AmandinePoulain · 14/05/2013 19:05

Old lady.

Or Dilys Price from Fireman Sam.

Sorry!

SleepyCatOnTheMat · 14/05/2013 19:01
