Just got new wallpaper that's the penguin classics books. Looking at Aldous Huxley multiple times a day (30 weeks pg!).

Is Huxley cool or am I losing it. Already got a DS called Wilf(red). I like slightly more left field names - Blaise, Rafferty and Heath all in the mix too.

I'm against last names as first names but It sounds alright. I would call the bump it for a few weeks and see how you feel.

Mehrida · 17/05/2013 15:34

Huxtable was my first thought too!

LittleMilla · 16/05/2013 21:10

Polly Grin I am loving the variantions. Wilf (just two) has started referring to himself as Wilfy-woo Hmm, and so you can bet that if #2 if called Rafferty there will be little chance of him EVER being called his proper name!

Pleased to hear that it's not quite as polarising as I'd thought. Is it odd that I keep on thinking of Mr Huxtable from the Crosby's?!!!

PollyIndia, its all character building :) DS1's mate is 13 & is a lovely well adjusted boy who seems happy to be known as Farty! His fb page is Farty X

PollyIndia · 15/05/2013 20:28

Mymatemax that's another one for the list. Poor raffy. It's amazing he actually knows what his name is at all, he gets called so many random things! I am trying to stop calling him raffy gaddafi though. Not sure a nicknaming your baby after a Libyan dictator is quite the one.

mymatemax · 15/05/2013 19:42

Polly.. ds1's friend is Rafferty, he is known as Farty!

JojoMags · 15/05/2013 08:10

My first throught was 'little pig'. Don't like Huxley at all, but Rafferty and Heath are coool. My DS1 is Wilf. I loved Rafe/Raffy for DS2 but DH vetoed Sad.

PollyIndia · 15/05/2013 07:23

Well raffy and raf, then raffy roodles, raffy roo, rafster, rafstamouse, rafmaninov, rafman scoop, flirty gertie... The list goes on.
I feel a bit Blush listing those out!

LittleMilla · 13/05/2013 20:42

Oooooh Polly, what nicknames do you have for your ds?

DH is pretty keen on Rafferty.

I know a 1 year old Huxley. I like it. My 7 month old is called Rafferty. Lots of good nicknames with a Rafferty, and I love a nickname.

Still18atheart · 13/05/2013 16:41

I really like Huxley

Layl77 · 13/05/2013 16:13

I thought Huxley pig. Love rafferty and would have it if dh was less square!

LittleMilla · 13/05/2013 15:42

DH not keen. Altho I might keep this one up my sleeve until I'm in labour and he agrees to anything I ask!

Thanks for replies.

I love it!

Wouldn't worry about the pig association. Olivia still top 10 despite piggy associations!

ipswitch · 13/05/2013 07:53

I know an adult Huxley and really like the name.
Really cool name.

I know a really cool boy called Huxley. No piggy associations here. Anyway, what is wrong with pigs?

bohoec · 12/05/2013 22:10

This was our choice if we'd had a boy! (After the author, not the pig!). I think it's great Smile

mymatemax · 12/05/2013 22:08

i know a Huxley, he is a gorgeous little boy. Some of his friends call him Hux, none of them have a clue who Huxley pig was, so unless they bring back Pipkin (was it?) then I think the pig reference is safe.
Go for it!

RustyBear · 12/05/2013 22:06

Huxley Pig

I love Wilf! Huxley works quite well with Wilf but is a bit more 'out there' IMO.

barnet · 12/05/2013 18:56

Ive not heard of the Huxley pig!

barnet · 12/05/2013 18:55

Huxley is great. I love names with 'x's. Rafferty and Heath are also good, and all good with Wilf.

sleepingbeautiful · 12/05/2013 18:45

Yup, another pig thought. Plus I think it feels clumsy on the tongue.
Love Heath though. That was on our back-up list in case DS didn't seem like our #1 pick.
