What names have you heard recently to make you stop in your tracks and wonder if the parents are a bit mad?

My most recent favourite is... Flossy, for a girl.
Made worse because my dads pet name for me is Flossy, or Floss. So to hear it as an ACTUAL name just makes me gawp.

Worst boys name - Banjo.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Dontae. Not Dante, Dontae Hmm Grin

DizzyPurple · 10/05/2013 11:31

Huxley - boy.
Tinkerbell - girl thankfully! Cute on a baby but as an adult???

FreedomOfTheTess · 10/05/2013 11:17

Sugar Princess - the name of a girl an old school friend teaches. Shock

To be honest, I didn't believe her at first, so I searched for the name on Ancestry and sure enough there is a birth record listed for a Sugar Princess. Oh and her surname (which my friend didn't tell me, I saw it on Ancestry) is White. White, Sugar

Shock Shock

There are some gorgeous names here! Love Flossy, Spike, Dotty - and Bram is a great name too. Think I really like Lolly too now it's been mentioned. Also really like the way that names like Precious are used in some cultures, always makes me feel a bit soppy.

Am with Thurlow - names like 'Ian' confuse me. 9 months and neighbours came up with 'Ann'. I don't know how to respond to that type. Had a friend whose first three all had lovely names, fourth was called John. Not even Johnny. He wasn't named after anyone, no family link, she just said she couldn't think of anything else Hmm.

Mariannesmum · 10/05/2013 11:01

Some of these names are out there. But Albert and Alfred are not unusual names are they?
I know a Boudicca. She is very cool and totally suits her name.

notso · 10/05/2013 10:10

Teaelcie, Baby and Brian I know Brian isn't unusual but it just sounded odd to hear baby Brian.

PattieOfurniture · 10/05/2013 09:52

Btw, ds2's name is on this thread but spelt differently

PattieOfurniture · 10/05/2013 09:51

Channel 5 milkshake were doing birthdays yesterday and there was a sweet little girl with the unfortunate name of...Kord Hmm

TripTheLightFanjotastic · 10/05/2013 09:22

I know a little boy called Sincere Hmm

CommanderShepard · 10/05/2013 09:22

Little boy named Kahelan.

Trazzletoes · 10/05/2013 09:13

I knew someone who married a girl called Ginger Lee.

Worse, Ginge for short Sad

Chisbird · 10/05/2013 09:13

Beau Bleu - just born last week

sapphirestar · 10/05/2013 09:12

Yeah, while he's 4 but can you picture a stroppy teenager or a successful middle aged businessman called Bear?!

LemonPeculiarJones · 10/05/2013 09:10

Aw Bear is cute.

LemonPeculiarJones · 10/05/2013 09:09

Miracle-Savoy? Brings to mind a magic sausage Grin

sapphirestar · 10/05/2013 09:09

I know a little boy called 'Bear'.

I thought it was a nickname/term of endearment.

It's not, Bear is really his name!

memphis83 · 10/05/2013 09:08

On fb saw a baby named La'Mae and to make it worse every single person said it was a gorgeous name!

QuietNinjaTardis · 10/05/2013 09:03

Finbarr dragon. It may possibly be the other way round I can't remember. Think the kid would be 8 or 9 now but my memory is a bit fuzzy.

FacebookWanker · 10/05/2013 09:00

We had a Spike and a Chad at school.

I don't think Dotty or Flossie/Flossy are unusual names.

flybynight · 10/05/2013 08:55

Miracle-Savoy for a girl and Jeeves for a boy. I thought they were both jokes.

Doughnutmaestro · 10/05/2013 08:53

I also know a couple with a dd called lois and a ds called Clark, apparently their dog is called kal-el.
Dads a big superman fan!

Doughnutmaestro · 10/05/2013 08:51

My ds is Flynn, supposedly that's unusual round here. The next person to call him Finn will get a smack though! It's Flynn from tron not Finn from glee
I desperately wanted danger as his middle name but dh vetoed it and he got his granddads names instead (still Sad)
I know an Alfred, he's three, not even shortened to Alfie or anything, his mums a hipster. He just got a new brother, I don't know his name yet but I can't wait lol

OkayHazel · 10/05/2013 08:34

Marking my place to watch this thread! It's a combination of hysterical and inspiring.

MardyBra · 10/05/2013 07:29

Shock at Jezebel. Thats like calling your child "Old Slag" or "Slapper".

nonamenewname · 10/05/2013 07:28

What usualsuspect said.
