DS is Harris James. What would you call DC2?

I would like a Scottish name somewhere in there, but we're pretty stuck!

My cousin in Inverness just called her new baby Garve - that's nice and unusual.

I like Iona for a girl's name.

BeaWheesht · 05/05/2013 23:18

Was hoping I'd slipped Isla in unnoticed there!

Hah! Might work slightly less well in a doctor's waiting room!

Thank you everyone :)

GRO Scotland just published last years first names for babies. Why don't you google that and see if anything takes your fancy?

Lewis is too popular in Scotland. It's no 2 I think.

Iona does not go with our surname (in a Jenna Taylor kind of way, not just that it doesn't match).

Kirsty and Callum are both out due to family members.

A Scottish middle name works for me if we can't agree on a Scottish forename.

Thank you for all the suggestions so far. I shall speak to DH and see if there's any we both like.

Avoid Lewis :)

Angus, Alasdair, Fraser, Lachlan, Hamish/Seumas, Calum, Gregor, Ruairidh

Iona, Isla (though Isla and Harris is funny!), Kirsten, Catriona?

Can see a lot of these have been suggested, sorry!

DontmindifIdo · 05/05/2013 20:15

I would avoid: Paris, Ferris, Rolf and Harry. Grin

the ones I would say for boys have already been suggested, Hamish, Cameron, Fraser.

Girls names are harder, and I think you need something strong to go with Harris, but most of hte strong girls names I like aren't scottish...

farmersdaughter · 05/05/2013 20:11

Campbell or Fraser
