According to DH it sounds like a "nice" girl with long brown hair. Does it?

We have two other DC with, also according to DH, understated, not too popular but fabulous names(!). Am only 11 weeks pregnant but Laura popped into my head the other day it has kind of stuck. I am sure I will discount it by the time the baby is born.

I'm a Laura, I have long brown hair and think I am quite nice!

Haven't met any under the age of 25. I do know about 7 in their early 30's.

Rhubarbgarden · 29/04/2013 18:53

I'm a Laura and I've always liked my name. Never too popular, difficult to shorten, will go anywhere. It's served me well.

Kitten - I'm an old mum Grin

Sorry but I don't know why, I just don't really like it. I don't know if it's associations iyswim? There are worse names though.

fussychica · 29/04/2013 18:44

Lovely name but you could go Laurel or Lyra if you want something a bit different but very similar.

nellyjelly · 29/04/2013 14:54

Like it.

I went to school with a Laura (I am late 30s). I had thought of Laurel which Laura is derived from, but a couple of babies in my extended family have nature names so I don't want to carry on the trend...

And there's nothing wrong with being nice, DH!

Thanks for your opinions.

All the Lauras must be young mums now :)

BNmum · 29/04/2013 14:30

Love it! Classic name and not overused.

weblette · 29/04/2013 14:23

I have a long blonde haired Laura! She's 13 and there aren't many others around! We would have gone for Lara as we were living in Russia at the time but TombRaider got in the way...

rubylovescheese · 29/04/2013 14:14

lovely. and does indeed bring images of quiet brunettes.

Thurlow · 29/04/2013 14:12

Very popular during the 80s - most of my friends are called Laura! But it's a really nice name, quietly classic.

Snowflakepie · 29/04/2013 14:07

I highly approve lol! And yes I am a nice girl with long brown hair. I've not met many through my life, I think it was more popular during the 1980s. Don't know any babies called Laura. I've never had any negative comments or felt judged by it. Much nicer than Lauren too, IMO. Don't rule it out just yet!

AuntieStella · 29/04/2013 14:01

Lovely.

rachel234 · 29/04/2013 14:00

Laura is a great name - an underused classic.

sparkle12mar08 · 29/04/2013 13:58

Love it. Classy and classic to my mind. Would suit all sorts of children and personalities, "nice" or otherwise.
