Girl's name April? What if I go overdue and into May?

April has been our front runner for the past few months now. And having had my first daughter early and this one showing signs of being ready since 34 weeks we thought she'd be April born for sure. However, I'm due on Saturday and no baby yet. Now I'm having a wobble about whether we could call a May-born baby April. Dh thinks its fine, but this might be more because we can't agree on anything else!
Dd1 is Holly. Other names we like but can't agree on or cant use for other reasons are Amy, Lucy, Elsie, Willow, Erin, Beth, Neve,...Ivy ;). We also like but are not keen on using very popular names such as Poppy, Ruby, Lily.
Any ideas about using April or other names we might like would be hugely appreciated, Thanks x

How about Alice, Nancy, Maggie, Meg, Elise?

I don't see the issue of an April born out of the month but to be honest the name April just reminds me of April jones every time I hear it and that alone puts me off sorry.

Notnowcato · 27/04/2013 17:07

How about Averil? (Ay-vril, rather than Av-ril) Keeps the April sound but not so date-specific.

I know a May born in April.

Don't think it matters at all. Tho she may be asked. On the other hand, any future partner will get a warning that her birthday is coming up!

FadedSapphire · 27/04/2013 14:07

I am guessing the April's born in January were conceived in April- counting on my fingers Grin.

FreedomOfTheTess · 27/04/2013 14:03

I love the name April and think you should use it even if you go overdue.

I have a friend name April, and also one named Avril, and neither were born on April. April was born in June and Avril in August.

Bue · 27/04/2013 13:20

Well the only April I know was born in January. I don't really think of the name as being associated with the child's birth month.

Thanks for all the votes for April. Still no sign of her yet, had a sweep today so hopefully will see some progress soon :) Hearing other people use the name definitely helps and think we will probably stick with it regardless of when she is born! X

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/04/2013 21:05

You could call her "June April" (due in April)? Grin

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 25/04/2013 21:45

Maisie?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 25/04/2013 21:42

I know an April born in May !

youcancallmeEl · 25/04/2013 21:35

Go with it if it's the name you like best. I know an April born in March and a Noelle born in January who was due at Christmas.

CognitiveOverload · 25/04/2013 20:42

Love April

EllenParsons · 25/04/2013 20:34

I think it's fine to use April in may and I think holly and April sound lovely!

tigrou · 25/04/2013 20:27

I think Holly and April sounds lovely together, they are both fresh and nature-ey but not ina very obvious way, please please do it! And the birth story of expecting her in April but she hung on a bit longer is just a nice little family tale for her too.

dozily · 25/04/2013 19:35

Even if someone asks you (or her, in future) why she's called April when she was born in May, there is actually a perfectly good reason - i.e. she was due in April.

I was planning on May for dd3's middle name but dh had other ideas!

Wholenewwoman · 25/04/2013 19:35

I know an April born in December, a May born in October and a June who was born in July!
Go with the name you like Smile

ReluctantlyBeingYoniMassaged · 25/04/2013 19:32

I once taught a girl called April who was born in April and she was bullied for her parents' lack of though over her name.
As for April-Mae, no. Really, no.

KittenofDoom · 25/04/2013 19:25

Not many people you encounter throughout your life are aware of your birthdate, are they? A few friends and family, sure, but for most it's not something that looms very large. So 99% of the people she meets are never going to raise an eyebrow at an April whose birthday is in May.

serendipity81 · 25/04/2013 18:58

Awesome yumlemoncheesecake, hearing someone else say them together sounds good :) thank you for the reassurance x

YumLemonCheesecake · 25/04/2013 18:56

I know 2 sisters called Holly and April.
Holly was born in June and April was born in May, both suit their names perfectly, I've never even really thought about thier names in relation to the time of year they were born.

serendipity81 · 25/04/2013 18:48

Thank you all, keep the ideas for names coming please .....I'm still not 100% sure April is THE one. I need help! Kinda wish it was just my choice and dh didn't keep saying he doesn't like all the names I suggest! Although I guess equally I don't like all of his bizarre suggestions!

I had this anxiety too with a planned Juliet who only just made it in July. Go for it, if you love the name.

feetlkeblocksofice · 25/04/2013 18:42

My mum is June and she was born in April, don't think it really matters. If you like the name go for it Smile
